3/4 and 1 ton rear brakes sizes:

after pulling drum off the 3/4 ton SRW dana 60 axle out here i have found and gathered this info:

3/4 ton dana60 brakes 12x2½ *two large flat-headed annoying tapered seat screws hold drum to the bearing/axle hub

through '72 3/4 ton eaton: 11x 2 3/4"

through '72 1 ton eaton: 13 x 2½"


*fronts are all 11x 2- 3/4"

I find the two large flat-headed tapered seat screws holding the drum to the bearing/axle hub rather refreshing. I have this same 3/4 ton Dana 60 rear end, and my drums were pressed on to the hubs over the studs, making them a pain in the arse to get apart, not to mention necessitating having to replacing the studs.

Rather than go thru all that, I got hubs from a donor truck and secured new 12" x 2 1/2" drums to the hubs with those delightful screws.

well yeah maybe in cali where there is no snow and salt and horrible corrosion, but here they are a whore and youd like to never get them broken loose..... if you cant get them to break without ruinging the spade cut in the heads of them then you are completely screwed and have to resort to drill bit.,,

My heart goes out to you guys in the snowy country. But I've seen plenty of rusted stuff out here in the wild west as well.

I'm a firm believer in never-seize for hardware that's exposed to the weather. My favorite is copper-based C5-A. If you were to liberally coat these screws before installing, they should come out easy the next time. Some people worry about lubed hardware loosening up on their own during use, but I wouldn't worry about it. The screws are trapped between the drum and the rim and can't go anywhere. I believe those screws merely set up the concentricity of the drums to the hubs before the lugs are torqued up.
