ignition timing ?
okay i am putting my 305 back together i got a new hei distbator for it what should i set the timing for an hei at?

I would initially set at 6 btc and see how it runs---may want to change it later depending on power and possible pinging

Years ago, I ran mine at 10 degrees BTDC at first and then went to 12 degrees. It worked well and had no issues. I now set the TOTAL advance (using a timing light with the advance feature) and the initial settles out where it needs to go.
