Re: carpet or mat

Depends on what your truck is used for. Work, play, show, cruise?

Re: carpet or mat

My work truck has rubber on the floor and I like it very much.
My 72 will have carpet though cuz it'll definitely not be a work truck.JMHO

Re: carpet or mat

Pepsi vs Coke...

I like carpet...absorbs some reflective sound around the cab..better than rubber mat does.

Re: carpet or mat

I like rubber for a working truck. Others nailed when they said to put the insulation under it.

Carpet is great for a cruiser or fun truck. It does do a whole lot more for sound absorbtion.

Re: carpet or mat

Back in "the day" (mid 60's) I worked in an auto upholstery shop. We replaced a lot of rubber mats and carpets back then as things didn't last as well as they do now. I remember that when we pulled out a rubber mat, it usually had a lot more rust under it than carpets. Sometimes the insulation was still wet when we removed the mats. Water gets in the insulation material under the rubber and won't dry out, but the carpet lets the moisture dry out. Just my two cents. If you go with the rubber mats, be carefull when cleaning it with the hose.
