Re: Am I asking too much for this 71

Well,I personally wouldnt pay that for a unoriginal swb 4x4.Someone else might think different.Of couse,I have one swb 4x4 so I dont need another so thats why I wouldnt pay that for one, especially a truck that was once a longbed. If it was a true SWB 4x4 then people would be all over it...And,its not all painted.... Price may be a little high, maybe just right for a unfinished truck IMO

Re: Am I asking too much for this 71

i wouldnt say that the frame being sectioned down is why, unless its still sectioned and not put back together??

but maybe the price is whats detering people from it, i think it looks like a good truck and most likely worth around 4k but i guess others dont, just have to wait for more to chime in for you make a decision on what to do with it, but i wish you luck with selling it

Re: Am I asking too much for this 71

I don't think the frame sectioning is an issue or nor do I think the price is too high.. But if I had it I would change it to an automatic and turn it into a fleet side..
In this part of the country it is difficult to sell a 4X4 stepside truck with a 4spd trans, unless it almost a give away
Even a SWB 4X4 is a hard sell here with a 4spd.. here is an example of one that has been on craigslist off and on for almost 2 years.

What's that suppose to mean, Alot of the people on this board own Plain Janes that they have added options too.
That truck is a NICE truck, saw it first hand, If had the funds I would buy it. Ernest is a Great guy to deal with.

Re: Am I asking too much for this 71

Thing is, it only has 66000 original miles, was a 1 owner pickup, parked alot of its life, runs and drives real good. I replaced rockers and corners. I think I will paint it, and see what happens! Thanks for your opinions.

Oh , by the way, the green 72 you can see in one of pics is a 350/350, has air condition (works) tilt column. I am going to section frame on that one as well. I have a nice fleetside bed for it.

The classifieds here are pretty dead.Checkother listings, very little action.I had a listing that went nowhere. You`re alright.
Not everyone buys these to sink major money in to try and get it back.
The one in WA on CL needs floor pans,a bigger deterent than 4spd or Stepside. Some love Stepsides. Some love 4spds,I do.I plan to build a shortbed stepside 4wd w/4 or 5spd.I have two 3/4t 4wds for sale.A guy is looking at them and he wants the 4spd over the nicer auto truck. He just likes the 4spd.

No question you are asking way too much....

But if you drop the price to $400 and toss in that 71/72 Olive truck behind it...you have a deal.

LOL

How much for the green 72 as is before you section the frame?
could you get some pictures of it?
How much rust does it have?
How does it run?
does it need anything?
Thanks Mike

I think there are still to many swb trucks that can be found that have not been shortened. I think the day will come soon where your truck will be more common place and more desireable. Just my .02.

Your sarcasm is SO helpful.

I would think a 4wd shorty in this area would sell fairly quickly, it's maybe a little overpriced.

Re: Am I asking too much for this 71

I did not know anything about this board until I had something posted on Ebay, got a message to look into this. I did, and am glad I found this site. However, there are some clowns out there, which is probably to be expected in anything you do. I do appreciate everybodys sincere opinion! I did not section frame on this pickup because I think original 4x4 shortbeds are extinct, Hell I did it because I had nothing better to do, and I will continue doing it and selling them as I was.

Re: Am I asking too much for this 71

I`ve been thinking about this more.I think it is a bit high, especially for CO.It`s actually worth it,but selling it for that would be to a narrow few.
*It`s not original
*It`s not real finished.Just enough to drive?
*An original in that form could be had for that,if not less.
*Painted/custom wheels/finished out...could get pretty good money.

Why didn't you take the $3500.00 as is? Just curious. If my truck was worth 4k as is and I got an offer of 3500.00, I think I would take it. I just don't see the justification in painting it just for the extra 500.00. Just my .02

Good luck though on the sale.

1. If you didn't take the 3500.00 then you don't want to sell it
2. If your not getting offers then your asking too much.
