Temporary Interior

When I bought my truck the carpet was ripped out. I was wondering if anyone has put a new carpet kit in before they painted. I don't plan on getting the truck repainted for a while and don't know if I could put a kit in without glue to take out and use after paint. Maybe I should just get some cheap mats in the meantime. What are your thoughts?

You don't use glue to put the carpet in. They are molded to fit the floor and lay right in. Just make sure you get the right one, high hump or low hump. A good thing to do is lay it in the driveway or yard in the hot sun for a while so it will soften some and then put it in.

Re: Temporary Interior

I bought mine from Brothers and it just plopped right in, no glue needed. Just use the door sills to hold it down on the sides and you're set. Then, if the carpet is not too thrashed by the time you get ready to paint it, just take it back out and paint. Once painted you set it back in and you're ready to pick up chicks

Re: Temporary Interior

Many pros DO glue them in, but it is not really needed.
You may want to makje sure you don't have a water leak on the cowl, that's a common reason to pull out the carpet.

Re: Temporary Interior

Just to add to this: There are two flooring options: Rubber mat and carpet.

My truck came with the rubber mat for floor. It's pretty cheap, and pre-molded. You might consider this option also. After paint, you could put it back in again and put carpet over it. I was honestly just going to carpet over my rubber mat....then i ripped it out
