opps.....oh no
I was working on my 71 today which was my uncles truck that satup 14 years. I had changed the oil and pulled the distributor. I put a oil pump primer in and rotated. When I pulled it out the oil pump shaft cam with it. Is there a way to get that shaft back in or am I about to start dissasmbly of that engine?
It's a 350 Help????? |

Just slide it back down there. No big deal really. The little plastic thingy that held it there probably cracked years ago. The distributor will hold it in fine.

I would replace the plastic piece also. Shouldnt be all that big of a deal to do.

You can do it from the top, I replace the plastic thingy on mine with the dizzy out and the intake off with a pair of needlenose pliers. With the intake on I would use the LOOOOONNNNG needlenose pliers I see sometimes.

 with every thing so far. When I rebuild, or replace, I usually use a TRW high volume pump that comes with a sleel collar instead of the plastic one. You can probably buy a new shaft with the steel collar with out the pump. Any way it is a much better idea than stock. By the way the steel collar is pinned to the shaft.eedgell
