Re: Rear Window Rust
If rust has started, the only way to fix it is to sand/bead blast that area, prime and paint. Just sanding will not work, as you cannot get the rust from the pits in the metal....it will come back.
I have not seen a lot of trucks rust in this area...your gasket must be bad as moisture has clearly gotten behind/under it.

Re: Rear Window Rust
I agree with Jeff on the blasting to get all rust removed, Small spot blasters can be picked up fairly cheap for this type repair.

Re: Rear Window Rust
i agree with big block73 . As to it being common that depends on where you live and if salt can get in there. I knew a kid who replaced the back window with a slider and didnt seat the gasket right thus causing rust there. make sure the gasket is GOOD and seated properly when you repair this rust. New gaskets arent that expensive as compared to repairing the cab

Re: Rear Window Rust
thanks guys, I actually have a spot blaster. I need to get this aleviated quickly before it gets worse. It has an aftermarket rear slider in it, so I assume who ever put it in didnt seat the gasket correctly. Oh well, Ill take care of it. Thanks again.
