Drop your truck Olympia WA

My truck [69 GMC 2wd SWB] with 5 lug axles, leaf rear, is WAY too low for our 2 mile long driveway.

If you have a normal-height truck and want a way to lower yours for free, let's talk. You can come over and make both swaps, my parts for your parts, and we both end up with the height we want.

The pic below will give you an idea about how low it is- there is only about 2 inches clearance under the front a frames and I keep dragging them on the low spots.

Not sure what all was used to do the lowering, you may have to come take a look to see if you are even interested.

My email addy is below.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave, your truck looks beautiful with the front clip swap, chopped roof and stance!. Sorry to hear it's a problem with your driveway.

Re: Drop your truck Olympia WA

Yeah, not happy about changing the way it sits and feels, but it is just going to get beat up from our road. I suggested finding a better road for her but my wife said something about hoping we would write....
It would be a shame to just beat it up, better to just raise it back up. Thanks for the comments and the observations- these trucks just grow on you

Groundhog that would be fine. The truck is at my mechanic's place and I wouldn't have the first clue about anything you said. I will try to get in touch with him this week and see if he can give me an understandable synopsis.
The lady I bought the truck from didn't skimp, so I expect everything was done correctly. I will try to see what I can find in the pile of receipts she gave me.
Is you truck 5 lug?
You are first in line for this, I won't do anything else until I find some more info for you. I am having some minor surgery Friday so this weekend is pretty well shot.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Drop your truck Olympia WA

Mike, the problem is with the lower A-Shaped pieces that the front tires are attached to- they drag in our uneven driveway.

They are the lowest part of the truck. Taller tires / wheels won't fit- Les Schwab was my first stop

I love the stance - one of the reasons I bought this truck- but didn't realize how much worse our access road gets in the winter.

The dropped front spindles need to be swapped out to traverse the access road.

My mechanic says the rear lowering was badly done- something about the rear leaf springs and a notch in the frame, so I will address that with him next trip.

Jeremy I will send you a PM mid-week about swapping the front spindles after I am getting around better. I don't think I want anyone else having the badly done rear mod- my mechanic says they notched too deep with no added reinforcement.

Thanks to all for the compliments- I like the truck a lot, too
