Tranny help

Does anyone know what kind of kit I need to put into my 203 to make it work with lockout hubs from a '77 1/2t truck? I'm not sure what the trans is out of but it's an earlier model '70's truck. I can't find an I.D. tag on it but is has the shifter that has low lock to high lock on it with 5 positions including nuetral. I would appreciate any assistance in finding the right kit and instructions on how to install this. I have looked on a couple of 4x4 sites and it seams it may be a couple of parts to exchange. I would rather someone who has done this swap tell me what I really need. I don't want to take this in and out several times to get it to work properly.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Re: Tranny help

You need a "part-time" kit for the 203. It basically removes the inter-axle differential. You'll have to drop the t-case out to install the kit.

I don't know if they are still available or not. If you can't find one, get a 205 t-case and swap it in.

You can install the kit while the case is in the truck. I've done this conversion a few times...

Re: Tranny help

The trans is out of the truck. I hate to go buy another trans just to get this to work. Does anyone know where to look for this set up?

Thanks again,

Re: Tranny help

Milemarker used to make a conversion kit that goes in the transfer case. Not sure if it is still available. You can install this with the unit in the truck.
