Detroit Locker or No?
-
This is the rear axle from a 1972 C-20. I Would like to know if this is a locker or not. I don't know what to look for....Hope you can tell from the pictures. I finally found the ratio, it is stamped on the inside end of the pinion shaft, 41:10 as shown in the pic. That would be a 4.10:1, could I be lucky enough to have a locker too??? Thanks for any help you can offer. LockDoc

Re: Detroit Locker or No?
I would say no. As you can see the spider gears that would be replaced by the detroit.

Thanks Dave. What would you see where the spider gears are if it was a Detroit?.. LockDoc

That dark mark is just a grease smear, but you get the idea just smooth metal, you might also see a spring above the smooth metal. but as long as you don't see gears, you're good.

Thanks Adam, looks like some kind of smooth disk or gear case in there. LockDoc
