Need underhood pics of bagged trucks
I am going to install on of porterbuilts C4 crossmembers in my blazer at some point. I am in the process of buying the C4 stuff as we speak. I pulled the springs out of the front and the tires are hitting the fenders and I was wondering what other people have done for clearence when aired out.
Thanks, Kade |

Re: Need underhood pics of bagged trucks
I have no pics but I have seen them with the fender well completely removed, some people trim around the tire only and keep the stock fender well. I have seen others with aftermarket fender wells installed , but personally I dont like those they look like some trailer fenders.
I am going to try to use my stock fender wells and with the tire in all positions up and down and turned both ways I will mark where the problem areas are. Then I am going to trim with a plasma cutter and I am sure most of the fender well will be gone. I am going to go to the junk yard and see if I can find some other fender well and then cut these to make mine completely enclosed. I would just cut it and leave it open but then you get road dirt and I also dont like the idea that maybe a crook can reach a hand up through there and cut the alarm or other wires. |

Re: Need underhood pics of bagged trucks
You would say something like that Come on guy even if you dont use the fender wells, trailer fenders are still for trailers. You can do somethig better than a trailer fender, but hey this is my opinion.
Its heavy , and ugly IMO. If you only drove in a straight line it might be Ok Last edited by BigTruckDriver; 05-15-2007 at 11:31 PM. |

Re: Need underhood pics of bagged trucks
I would rather have the smooth trailer fenders than the 'race car' style rear tubs in the engine compartment of my truck.
Actually, I wouldn't want those race style tubs in any car or truck I own (front or rear) . ...... unless of course I buy a race car.

Re: Need underhood pics of bagged trucks
Ya I agree with the trailer fenders as well the ones with beads rolled in them remind me of a 45 gallion drum

Re: Need underhood pics of bagged trucks
Oops! Didn't read all posts. Not sure what model they came from. The guy that did the work no longer works at the shop. Maybe late 90's model, he also mentioned 300M hinges!

Re: Need underhood pics of bagged trucks
If you can pull some part numbers off of the hinges, then I can tell you what Mercedes they are from. They almost look like ML hinges (163 chassis), but I can't tell for sure. Nice setups. John

Re: Need underhood pics of bagged trucks
I'll try and check on the part number and price tomorrow. 208 should be a CLK. You're not kidding about the Mercedes parts prices. Most people don't even know. John

Re: Need underhood pics of bagged trucks
No one said you had to use them, I was just trying to give you the idea of a enclosed wheel well. Rock on with your trailer fenders Oh ya , the fenders from summit, You can get them with or with out ribbs, whatever feels more comfortable.

Re: Need underhood pics of bagged trucks
Driver's side (208 750 03 28) Passenger side (208 750 04 28) customer pay is $128.25 each plus tax. Fits 1998-2003 (or 2005 depending on coupe or cabrio) CLK 320, 430, 55. Hopefully this helps. John
