I know everyone has had riding and handling problems. My truck feels every crack in the pavement. It handles okay but the constant feel of the bumps is driving me nutty. I put on new gas shocks and sway bar. Anyone with an idea on getting a better ride?

How about your cab mounts, well that might make the ride harder actually but they still might need replacing.

You havecoils or leaf springs? I love the way my coils ride...the 2 leaf spring trucks I've had/have were kinda rough...but they're rahter stout.

It's a 1/2 ton longbed fleet with coils. I have ridden in another truck and it was like night and day. I haven't changed the cab mounts yet. It also has a constant whine (sorta like my exwife) i think it's the center bearing. Anyone else?

I have a 69 1/2 ton SWB that has coils and it rides great. even better than my 98 silverado Z-71 ext cab. you should also have the control arm bushings checked, I had mine replaced and it made a good difference. Your trailing arm bushings could also be bad. Just check anything rubber that has to do with vibration dampening. Do you have low profile tires? That will cause a bad ride too, but that you just have to live with or get new tires. Good luck.

I have another solution for your problem, come take a ride in my truck. It is a 3/4 ton with leafs and the tires run 65 psi. I actually removed one of the thicker leafs in the back and it seems to help a bit. I don't think that you would be complaining much after that ride :P

You would be suprised how much a differance the kind of tire and tire presure makes on your ride.

I also have one truck, out of 7 or 8 that rides a little harsh. It is an original 71 SWB, coil rear. I just changed the tires---not the problem. I see some really big HD gas shocks on it from the last owner that towed with it...really, towed his horse trailer with a SWB! I am going to try smaller med duty (if there is such a thing) shocks.

My 68 beater rides great on the hwy & nicely paved roads, but get it on a crappy pothole filled road & it sounds like it's falling apart it rattles so much. I'm thinking of switching to later model a-arms & taking advantage of the newer style(thicker)rubber bushings. I'm hoping this will take some of the violence/harshness out of the feeling I get when hitting potholes & such. I should prob get a solid bed floor also as my guess is it would help cut down the rattles.
