250 0r 292 ?

Can you tell just by looking at the engine if it is a 250 or 292? I mean...there must be some differences.

On a 292,the motor mounts are offset. The fuel pump sit`s back farther on the passenger side. The side plates on the block are taller.
The 250 has the motor mounts at the same location on both sides and the fuel pump is forward like a V8.

Quick look at the water pump should tell you. A 292 has 3 hoses. a 250 has 2

Re: 250 0r 292 ?

292 side covers are taller than a 250. A 250 has 4 inch covers, 292's are 6 inch.

If the motor is still in the truck,it might have the "292" emblems on the fenders
