60 windshield rubber replacing

Ok so whats the deal ? I bought a new windshield seal ,and it seems like most glass shops are afraid to touch it. Is it that big of a deal ? Can any one sugest a place in the Bay Area San Jose area how can do it ?

I'm from Protland, OR.......I once had my windshield seal replaced at the local speedy auto glass shop and 1) they told me it would be a few days and it took almost 4 weeks 2) I brought it back to them over 3 times because it still leaks!!!

Campbell Autoglass...they did mine. There is also a place near Speed merchant on Lincoln Ave that used to do all their work.

Re: 60 windshield rubber replacing

We have that problem at times. It seems that the younger guys working in glass shops sometimes do not have the skills to do it. (hope no offense). We have had good luck with the shop we normally use but when He quit they could not do them anymore. They did find a guy later that could do them. I quit doing them cause I tend to brake them. I would try to ask around. I am sure they still have someone left

Might I suggest you go find yourself an old fashioned hot rod shop, some of the older guys (looks in mirror) know how to do that kind of stuff.

Re: 60 windshield rubber replacing

I had mine replaced on my 63 a few years ago. I don't think the seal was an issue, but he sure didn't want to reinstall the trim. He told me he hadn't done a curved windshield like that in 15 or 20 years and thanked me for reminding him why he hadn't Then I wrote him a check for $280.00 and drove away.
