Shocking question????
Going from a 4" to a 6" all spring. Do you think my shocks will survive for a while? Rancho 9000's. They don't really look that extended and there won't be any flexing to speak of, just mostly highway stuff.

Re: Shocking question????
how do you like the 9000's? I picked up the on-board system from a buddy ($50) and am looking into getting a set. Will yours only fit 4" lift? let me know if you decide to upgrade and want to sell yours...

Re: Shocking question????
Yes mine are for a 4" and I lovem. They have the 5 settings and you won't tell alot of difference from one setting to another but you can for sure from like 1 to 5. I have used them to control a bad tire that has a lot of weight on it. Seems to ride a lot better when the shock for that tire is set on the stiffer position. Not sure if and when I get rid of them yet. They are painted red !

Re: Shocking question????
I am guessing that you need to swap since rancho's catalog has 3-4" lift shocks and 6" shocks. No expert on shocks here so good luck...

Re: Shocking question????
If they have travel in them & aren't totally compressed either you'll be good, especially since it's on-road use. Just give 'em a try & see how it feels.
I put a 6" lift on my '86 & then got the 6" shocks & they don't have much compression left in them, but they do have plenty of downward travel. But I don't worry about ride quality in it so they work ok. The way I drive it the ride won't be smooth reguardless of the shock I use.

Re: Shocking question????
If you bought them for your 4 inch lift then they should be fine with th 6. I cant count how many times Ive swapped springs and the shocks are just fine. They usually have enough length in them for a +2 or -2 lift or lower.
