I brought this truck home 2.5 years ago because I thought I might need some part of it... apparently I dont because I haven't touched it since!!

1968 C1500 Custom with 396 big block, TH400 automatic transmission, PS, PB and factory air conditioning. 3.54 Dana 44 rear end. Yes, a Dana 44 rear end with 3.54 gear ratio. I have the build sheet to prove it.
Also note the 1968 only PS reservoir bracket.

Previous owner's kid installed battery backwards and melted about every wire in the truck. They "fixed" it up with speaker wire. You should plan on new wiring throughout the truck. With that said, the truck runs and drives, the tranny shifts through all gears and the brakes work. AC compressor is missing, and quadrajet replaced with an Edelbrock carb. No exhaust on passenger side past the manifold. It will run long enought to drive on to your trailer.

Body could be restored, better than most originals in this area of the country.

I have a clean MN title in my name, ready to transfer.

$1700 as is and where is.

No doubts about that rear. My dad had a factory 68 BB short bed with that rear in it as well. The power steering reservoir is interesting. I wonder if that's the same bracket they use on 69-72 big blocks with the auxilliary battery? Good luck with the sale.

Theres a 69-70 in the salvage yard here that has the resevoir bolted right to the fender. A big block truck.

Here are 2 pics: the build sheet and a close-up of the same buildsheet showing the axle number as a SP44 354.
I read that as a Spicer (Dana) 44 rear with a 3.54 gear ratio.

I would be glad to sell that bracket... $1700 includes its rolling 4000 pound shipping container

They are out there... I pulled a Dana 44 3.54 posi from a 67 GMC (leaf type) in the local wrecking yard. It had a 305 under the hood. No it's Not for sale.

From what I understand, all 1968 big block trucks used this power steering reservoir bracket. Someone has mentioned 69-72 trucks with a big block and factory dual batteries also did?

I questioned if the 69-72 BB w/ dual batteries had that extension. Reason is I have a 72 factory brochure showing that extension, but I forget why. I'll have to find the brochure again and look. Looking at your engine pic, it seems there's plenty of room to mount the reservoir to the fender and still have the auxilliary battery there. Just curious. Anyway, TTT.

The fun and adventurous side of me says exhaust on the passenger side and 25 gallons of gas would get you home. (Wiring harness if you want lights/turn signals, etc) Front drivers side tire has a slow leak... I think I have a spare I could swap on.

The smart and experienced side of me says pay me another $250 and I will deliver it to you on my trailer! (I could probably roll this weekend?) Less fun, but much safer and higher probability of an uneventful trip!

Or borrow a trailer, dolly, tow bar or whatever... come down and haul it home yourself. You know you want to come check out the other truck treasures I have!!
