lowering a 71 3/4 ton LWB

I've got a 71 3/4 ton "Camper Special" long bed, it was my fathers-who bought it new. Now I own it, have pulled the camper off and now I want to lower the rear of the truck-just so it sits level, and make it a softer ride. Can I use a set of 1/2 ton springs in place of the 3/4 ton springs? Also does any one make a full wiring harness to drop a vortec engine into an old carbuerated truck?? Thanks!!!

you would be beter off putting spacer bewtween top of trailig arm and under axle tube, the springs wont change it much if at all, and then you can still haul as much weight

good luck

I have a 68 C20 lwb and it has 1/2 ton coils in the back...it lowered it about 1.5 inches...so it doesn't quite sit leve but close...it did improve the ride alot...but i am now thinking of going back to the 3/4 springs and lowering it as mentioned above due to the fact that i am going to start towing with it......but it is a cheap very easy way to get a little drop and improve the ride.............

If you have leaf springs, Early Classics has lowering shackles for the rear for the narrow 2.25 springs.

Thanks guys, I don't have trailing arms on it, and I'll measure the width of the spring tomorrow. I have a set of air bags under the frame over the rear-end that i use when towing. I have a 67 firebird drag car- and the trailer is HEAVY!!!!

I removed one of the thick leafs from the rear end of my "CUSTOM CAMPER" and it helped the ride out a bit and lowered the truck a bit.
