Are the valve covers aluminum? How much were they? Where did you get them? How tall are they. I have been looking for a set of them for my 57 Chevy 150. Thanks.

Yes, They are polished Aluminum - Genuine GM performance parts. I got them for $140 from my favorite parts source . . . Ebay

The seller (alleycat26) doesn't currently have anything for sale - don't know if it was a one time thing, or if he sells them regularly.

I'll have to measure them to get the height for you.

Looks like the only thing missing that I need are the "Longhorn" emblems to go on the bed. As soon as you get them (they're ONLY $120) box it up and send it to me. I'll even pay shipping !!!! LOL

But seriously folks ,,,,,, That is Christmas, Birthday, Fourth of July and Happy Hannukah all rolled into one !!!!! Good lookin' stuff!!

You're right woodrow59 . . . I need Longhorn emblems. I had ordered a set, but they got backordered and then discontinued from one of my sources. I see them in LMC, Chevyduty and other places, but don't know if they are really available - Maybe Andy will give me his new set

wlee ,,,,, does your bed have the holes for the Longhorn emblem??

Mine does, but i think somebody has said (probably, you know who!!LOL) that most of them were adhesive. Thats why they are so hard to find (they fell off). well that and the fact not many of these trucks were made. If there's ever a set on Ebay I'll try to figure out who's bidding and not bid against ya' !!!!!! LOL

My bed does have the holes for the emblems, but . . . the truck evidently had a mishap before I bought it - one side is the style with 3 holes in a horizontal fashion, and on the other side they are staggered a bit from top to bottom. It's obvious the bed panel was replaced, so I don't know for sure which is correct for '69 - I think it's the staggered side that's correct, but LonghornMail will have to set us straight. The emblem do show up on Ebay once in a while - I should probably bid on the next set that come up for auction. I'd rather have the ones with the mount pins, so I don't have to worry about losing them!

In the 6 years they were made, there were only 25,442 Longhorns made...so that means, at a minimum, there were 50,884 badges made just back in the day alone...and I'll bet 44,000 of them fell off from crappy glue.
If you were to get your hands on one (not mine0 you'd see there is no posts, nor places for posts (you can't have mine).
I had thoght they were bolted on (back off dammit) when i first got the old one, (step off biyotch) bit after looking at tehm, and seeing more, I found I was mistaken.
Those CST/20 badges are hard to find...I got over 100 bucks out of my old ones.

Travis,

Those valve covers are die cast and can be ordered direct from the GM Goodwrench Online Performance Parts Catalog or Pace Chevrolet at Pace Parts .com .
Says they won't work with 1.6 rockers.

Looks sweet...

Where'd you get that timing cover, though? That was one of the first things I had to re-fix on my truck...in this case the "Dope-Smoking Old Man" was simply my cheap dad!!! LOL...anyway, the timing cover was some craptastic made-in-Taiwan junk that never sealed the front main right...my engine bay was wet for a looooong time...

That goes on a list of other things of my dad's I've fixed and, in some cases, re-fixed...along with the blower motor (which needs to be RE-re-fixed now, AAGH!), the water pump, and most of the interior... :P

The timing cover (and a lot of the other goodies) came from motorchrome.com

They have an Ebay store and currently have 24 pages of chrome parts up for auction. http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAP...page=1&rows=25

The stuff all looks good, but I haven't used any of it yet to know if I'm going to have any problems.

Thanks for the link basketcase - didn't know they wouldn't work with 1.6's I guess I have to decide if I want to give up the 1.6 roller rockers & keep the covers, or give up the covers

You could always test fit them and even use double gaskets if necessary.

It's a quartz clock which created a bit of traffic at an earlier post - you can see the dash & the clock at this thread:
