What did you get done? 05/20

WOW! I actually got to do something truck related this weekend. For a change I wasn't on call, didn't have a volleyball tournament to attend, and the weather was awesome.

I spent Saturday detailing my 77. I pulled all the wheels ans polished them inside an out ( I hate billet wheels), polished the billet pieces under the hood, waxed the paint, and used tire dressing on all the rubber.

Saturday night I hit the local cruise spot sponsored by the Niftee 50ees car club. They had 400+ cars and trucks come through the gates.

Today I went to church, then my neighbors daughters grad party, then a good friends 40th birthday party.

What did you get done?

More pics inside

Re: What did you get done? 05/20

Glad you finally got time to play with your truck a bit

I spent friday night at the dyno shop with my buddy's car. Earlier in the week I did the racing stripe and trunk black-out on it for him. He was very happy and because of the quality I may have an '07 GT 500 mustang lined up to do stripes on

Saturday I spent all day cleaning up and preparing for a BBQ we had that evening. Ended wrapping that one up at about 3am, but it was a great time had by all.

I slept in today, as a result of the BBQ evening, also didn't feel the best today, another side effect... LOL, I did get a little bit of vinyl work done for some customers and measured for my privacy fence that should be going up starting this week.

Re: What did you get done? 05/20

I completed my blazer tank swap into the 68.

I got the tank installed, hidden hitch mounted, & the rear-most crossmember installed. Standing about 15~20ft behind the truck..... you cant tell there's a blazer tank back there. I'm still deciding on how I will vent the tank so it won't be a PITA to fill w/gas.

Today I actually cleaned up the 74. It's been a while since it's received a driveway type wash vs. coin-op car wash (I even vacuumed the carpet). I then went by a little show over in Garland to check out the local rides.

When I got back home, I still had some free time so I started drilling the new holes for the new smaller rear bags. Progess . . .....

Cleaned the garage, stuck my shop rags in the washer machine, stained the deck and welded the new rear air bag brackets and installed the bags.

Re: What did you get done? 05/20

Yard work, went to local show-n-shine saturday night.
Ojoe came and got the coys Sunday morning, more yardwork. Backyard grilling and having fun with the kids.
Was going to start on the serpentine swap, but figured I would wait, going to drive my truck to the office this friday and let a few guys have a peek. Not sure if I would have enough time during the week to get it done by Friday morning. So maybe I'll start this weekend.

Re: What did you get done? 05/20

I made these tailgate latches..(they're not finished in this picture)

They will match the contour of the new tail light brackets I made and tie the back of the truck together. I'll post finished pics this week. It's amazing wha tyou can create with a carbide blade

Oh and I also SOLD MY TRUCK THIS WEEKEND!!! I wasn't even completely done with it but all of my buddies were beatin me down to take it to the swapmeet so I did. The guy gave me cash down and want's to pick it up in a week or so once I reshoot the hood (had a little incident when polishing that pretty orange on the center of the hood) and finish up the tailgate latches.

More details in my thread.. Stay tuned.....

Re: What did you get done? 05/20

Went to a car show in Hayling Island, England. The only 73-87 truck that attended was this Blazer. While I was looking around I spotted a 55 Lincoln that was bought from a small town about 30 miles from were I live, small world.

Re: What did you get done? 05/20

I started the process of swapping cams in my 86. I determined the cause for all my pinging issues were coming from some wiped cam lobes and a wore out timing chain gear. Why in the crap did GM use a gear with nylon teeth and a metal chain?!? I took the oppurtunity to clean, paint and detail the engine compartment a little bit. I'm also installing a new Edelbrock Performer EPS intake, new wp and new fuel pump. I'm not finished yet. This is a tougher job than I thought it would be. I'll start a new thread with pics later this week.

Not a whole lot. Hung out with friends. Had a little get together for a buddy who was moving away. Cleaned up the Cavy. Got a new job lined up and checking out getting something to replace the cavy this summer.

Re: What did you get done? 05/20

Saturday - went to my friend's B-day over in Jackson, killed quarter of a keg, did some work on my senior project, then slept in the car cause there ain't no way in hell I go to bed with a whole bunch of drunks with sharpies running around

Sunday - made pancakes, got the hot chick next door to wash my car in just shorts and tanktop (11am and she was already high as a kite) while me and my friend Matt worked on his Escort (nasty vacuum leaks), got the Escort fixed, Terry finally got my Lincoln clean and herself and everyone and everything around wet as hell, we cooked way more burgers than we can possibly eat, ate all of them burgers, watched the Wings and the Tigers games, more keg content draining, dinner like the lunch, more beer, MXC, more beer, sleep, Terry wtf are you doing in my bed, lol

Truck related I didn't get nothing done all weekend, I did however try to order a rebuild kit from Holley for the 4165 and the part numbers NAPA has are wrong cause based on the pic the kit is for a 2-bbl carb, and not a 4-bbl spread-bore double-pumper like I got. Oh well, will try at Glendale tomorrow.

Re: What did you get done? 05/20

Not a thing, doubt I will all summer, since I no longer have a drivetrain, and have to safe for school.

Best I might do is relocated my fuel door, and maybe take my front diff out to rebuild from the ground up

Re: What did you get done? 05/20

Went to South Padre Island for a few days of vacation. Ended up spending an entire day driving around the small towns down there to get the parts to fix a bad miss that developed in my wife's clown car (tiny little Mazda). Still got to do a little sightseeing and swimming. It was still better than going to work...
