Rear axle not centered in wheel well
I have a 71' Suburban with a 6" all spring lift that came on the truck. Is it normal that the rear tires are further forward in the wheel well? Is there any way to center them? Thanks.

Re: Rear axle not centered in wheel well
Yeah, Off Road Design sells small blocks with offset to work with spring pack center bolt to move axle one way or the other. 4crawler also make them. Good luck.

Re: Rear axle not centered in wheel well
You can drill a relocated hole in the axle's spring pad if not too far off. Do the same on the top plate that your u- bolts go over- so the u- bolts will be straight. I've done this many times.

Re: Rear axle not centered in wheel well
my top plate is cast... you're better to buy a new one that has three holes, one in center and two for movement fore and aft...

Re: Rear axle not centered in wheel well
Thanks for the help guys! The stuff at diy4x looks nice. I'm about to put a
14 bolt in so the spring perches they have will be perfect.

Re: Rear axle not centered in wheel well
First I'd check to make sure the P/O didn't reverse the leaf packs when they were installed.
Or depending on the amount it's going to take to center up in the wheel well, turn em around. The plates memtioned above from ORD are called 'zero rate' blocks in case you choose to order a set. I have a set on my 14FF to move the axle back 1.5"s and they work great. |
