just got a truck givin to me!!!
ok yall, i hang in the 60-66 forum most of the time. a friend of mine just gave me a 84 chevy silverado. no front clip, engine, or tranny. but the cab and bed are mint, as for the interior. i was gonna use the column and PS parts and the front suspension on my 66 but it seems a shame to scrap a good body. should i fix it up? i have a running 350 in the shop i could drop in, in fact i have 2 now. how hard would it be to get it to pass inspection? i ask because the engine i have is a late 70's 350. let me know what ya think, and ill get pics as soon as possible.
thanks, John

hewlett2002000- Welcome to the 73-87 forum. Were always happy to have new members to our section of the world.
What you need to decide is how much you need/want another truck. Since your from Texas, you already know rust free 73-87 bodies aren't too hard to come by. It wouldn't take much to locate everything you need to have a fun little parts chaser. Inspection will depend on your area. I'm in Harris county so we have smog tests. You might not have to deal with that where you are.

Re: just got a truck givin to me!!!
well i have alot of custom things i want to do to my 66, and i would like to build a 383 and drop it in the. so i might fix this one up to have something else to drive while im making my 66 how i want it. as for inspection, i have friends in alot of counties around here, so ill find a non emissions county and get one to inspect it for me(hopefully). i mean drop in a engine and tranny and add a front clip and its ready to drive. or..... no front clip just weld some metal pieces from the cab to the radiator support and there she is anyways guys, ill let ya know what im doing, and ill get some pics posted as soon as possible.

Re: just got a truck givin to me!!!
Like you I MY 84 WAS GIVEN TO ME (by my father who passed away). Ilike many others wanted a 67- 72 or older truck to street rod it etc. Even though the 73-87,s are less valuable , it sure is a lot cheaper to get a 73- 87 hooked up to look about as bad as any thing out there as opposed to the older ones .( For example , n2 trux , show me a truck that looks a whole lot better than that , no matter what year. I think we get too obsessed with the year it is other than what the hell it looks like going down the road. Only my opion, you can get a lot more bang for the buck with a 73-87.

I'd fixer up and drive it if ya end up not liking it sell it and make some money to put into the '66.
My guess is when you start driving it you wont get rid of it |
