Whats a good protector/polish for chrome rims?
I would like some thing that is going to polish and help protect dirt from sticking to the chrome. Also do I polish the plastic cap in the center or will the polish dull the finish here? Thanks for any help.

Honestly the best thing I have found for my chrome wheels is the Stoner's Invisible Glass Cleaner. It gives a nice shine and removes any spots.
At the very worst you can use rubbing compound, but that's only if you need it. The plastic caps in the middle will be fine with the glass cleaner too. I never use glass cleaner heavy with ammonia (Original Windex). DLB |

Re: Whats a good protector/polish for chrome rims?
Thanks for the info ! I didnt think about the high ammonia content but you are right. I stopped by auto zone and picked up some Blue Magic polish and protector. It is supposed to leave a silicon film that helps repel water and dust.
I have used this stuff on aluminum parts with good results and seen in it the aisle for chrome polish so I figured what the heck. Now its time to go break a sweat I also read the sticky about detailing your vehicle and found some good tips . Thanks for the help. |

Re: Whats a good protector/polish for chrome rims?
After reading around maybe the blue magic is not so great. I keep reading post of people saying dont use anything but chrome polish on chrome. Cleaners that are for chrome, aluminum, and brass are to strong for chrome wheels. The blu magic is great for old dull chrome rims but repetitive use will wear down the chrome after time. I will see what else i can find.

I've always had super results with Mothers chrome polish. It leaves a really smooth finish that repels water/dirt.
