Angry leaky holley intake manifold

I have a 68 chevy with an 83 305 from a monte carlo, I recently installed an holley aluminum intake manifold and it leaks like crazy . Should I have put somekind of thread sealer on the bolts? It's torqued down and it just leaks like crazy. Intake isn't cracked or anything like that. To top it off, it just made my shiny intake look NASTY!!

Re: leaky holley intake manifold

is it leaking around the middle bolts and puddling on the intake?

if so pull those bolts, clean them and wrap some teflon tape around them and put them back in and problem solved, did that with mine and hasnt leaked since

Re: leaky holley intake manifold

thread sealant is a must on intake manifold bolts thats why they say so in the service manuals

Re: leaky holley intake manifold

Mine leak too. I've tried the liquid thread sealant with no luck. I'll try the tape.

I'm not a big fan of Teflon tape on these bolts as they protrude into the coolant passages and the cam valley. You do not want loose Teflon tape running around in the engine...
