Master cylinder problem

I'm having an issue with my master cylinder right now. To start off my truck was dismantled two years ago for restoration and now I'm putting it back together. Earlier this week I was putting the brake system together and when I got the master cylinder connected to the pedal and I tried pushing the pedal to see if it was hooked up right and the pedal was jammed and won't return either. The m/c was sitting in my shed for two years with just a little bit of fluid in it. Am I screwed and need to buy a new m/c or not. Its a 72 with power brakes and discs up front.

Re: Master cylinder problem

Make sure the spring to your pedal is hooked up right and not sticking. If its working fine disconnect the lines from your master cylinder and attempt to push the brakes. You want to find wether its a mechanical linkage problem, or a clog in either the master cylinder or brakes and lines somewhere. Good luck. I actually did the same thing this past week but on a 71 with no power brakes. Took me a while to bleed the brakes with the wife but she stops on her own now.

I would say more likely to be a bum booster.
A master cylinder is so cheap, if you have any questions on the one you have.... just get a replacement.
