Outer brake pad

How does the outer brake pad on each caliper connect to the caliper so as it wont wobble around or drag on the rotor?

Re: Outer brake pad

All pads will rub on the rotor a little... that's just how they're designed. I don't remember exactly how it works on our trucks, but I believe it's just a floating pad in there.

Re: Outer brake pad

Ok cool thanks for the info, have you heard or had personal experience that the outer brake pads have a little play?

Re: Outer brake pad

The pads are probably gonna be fairly loose. Almost every car Ive ever done brakes on have loose pads... it's just how it's designed. I wouldn't worry about the play. As long as you can't just pull them off with your hand, you're fine, heh

Re: Outer brake pad

I used to put them on straight out of the box, before I found out you were supposed to clinch down the little ears on top. They did seem to clack around a little when you first hit the brakes, but I never had any serious problems with them.
