Tranny replacement
I have 3 on the tree. Is there a 4 or 5 speed manual tranny which can be bolt on instead of the 3 speed? Now that we are at it, I also have two piece drive shaft. When I grap the front section behind the tranny, I can easily move it up and down and side to side. I was wondering how much play should this section have? Is there any donor vehicle that I can use to tranny and drive shaft?

I have heard you can use a S-10 5 speed, but the tranny isnt as strong if you have a built motor, I have thought of doing that with my 67, just got to find a donor truck..

I would use the NV3500 (or is it the NV4500) out of a later model c/1500 or 2500. You'll need to adapt it over to a hyd clutch set up, but that isn't too hard from what I've seen on here.

Your driveshaft play may be due to your center support bearing. Sounds like it may be worn out.
