Just got a line on a TCI Sizzler 350 Turbo Trnasmission. It's supposidly built for mild engines to 300hp...and since my 307 is maybe pushing 140hp at best...think this is a good deal? Local trans shops want $350 and up to rebuild my old tranny and I thinkit might have a cracked case!!! What do you guys think???

Thats $145 + shipping less than Summit.
Not a screaming deal but not bad by any means.It would work great with your set up and should be a good tranny. Make sure you compare apples to apples - if your local shop price includes install and remove make sure you budget that into the total cost. I paid $500 to have mine rebuilt but I pulled it and installed it, it is built to handle 500 pounds of torque with extra duty pump, gears & clutchs & sprag.

Thanks for the input BigBlock! I am doing the pulling and reinstalling myself. Ive never messed with any TCI stuff but have heard the name for yrs so figured it must be decent. I dont want to change much on Old Blue except the convenience things like adding power steering and power brakes and changing the rims to later model 6 lug rallies and didnt want a trans Id have to cobble in and "Redneck Engineer" to get hooked up right. This trans looks like a idiot proof bolt in so I should be safe! The cool thing is the warehouse is 5 minutes from my house so I can go pick it up and save on the shipping!

if that includes a converter, then make sure it is a lower stall unit... either way, I'd jump on it if the fundage is there.
