Help! Can't get original steering arm off!
I installed my 4" Suspension lift this weekend, but i couldn't finish because i couldn't get the steering arm off to replace with the raised one. is there a trick i'm missing? does it take some sort of gear puller or something?
pics of the original still in place...

Re: Help! Can't get original steering arm off!
Based on the frequency of the steering arm question, should we take the one thread that has the most detail and make it a sticky?
It's a common issue to run into when lifting a solid axle GM truck. Might make it easier for the 4wd noobs to find it.

No drama, just one of those often repeated questions.
Thanks for putting up as a sticky...

Re: Help! Can't get original steering arm off!
Does anyone make a drop pitman arm to come off the steering box? Seems that might be easier to remove than the steering arm.

yep, most kits have that option. I think if you go 6 or 8 inch they recommend both. You should start looking at crossover steering for off-roaders that do 6"+ lifts though.

Re: Help! Can't get original steering arm off!
well, i finally got back after it today. it only took about 2 minutes! I tried the socket method, but it didn't visibly do anything.
however, a 12lb sledge hitting the arm from the front/sideways did the trick very quickly! see my other post for the results!
