What did you get done this weekend?
I spent my 2 days working off a few odds & ends on my 67 K-20.
After I pulled the hood the first to go was the leaking brake booster, replaced with another from a part-out truck, tested at 25lbs of Vacuum and held it for 15 minutes... no more sinking brake pedal while stopped. Next out was the points dizzy that was worn out. I installed a HEI I pulled from a 79 Chev PU I parted last year. Following board advice I went with 78 Vette Plug wires to reach around the ramhorns. I was a tight fit but I didn't have to beat anything up, just moved the stock oil pressure line out of the way. I made a tool from a steel rod to turn the oil pump shaft by feel since you cant see into the hole. (It's a 4x4 and the motor is all the way back) It took a few tries to find the right tooth. The hold down clamp was busted so I found a new one in my junk bin. It sure woke up that 283 Sounds like a new motor now. Gapped the plugs at 45 and timed at 10 degrees. Idle is 550-600 and smooth. Next I pulled the valve covers off and the 40 year old cork gaskets came apart like old toast. Replaced with new rubber ones. I dug out a mini tach I paid 5 bucks for at a swap meet, wired it up and it works. Just need to figure out where to hook in the light wire to the stock harness. Installed a E-brake cover I bought from Bob Moore and it looks nice. Last touch was to plug in a 71 ignition to my new bezel I got from WES, now I have the Acc. postion but only one key Not showy but just a touch up to a truck that hauls my firewood and scrap metal.... and anything else I can load in there. Lastly I replaced a worn hood hinge and lubed up both before installing the hood and going to dinner. I feel better about getting a bunch of little things finished. May just drive it to work tomorrow and see how see runs on the freeway. Hope you had a good weekend, Thank you Vets BE AMERICAN - BUY AMERICAN - DRIVE AMERICAN Last edited by Americanrider; 05-28-2007 at 11:53 PM. |

Re: What did you get done this weekend?
I got some more work done on the kids room today with the help of my wife (8months along) and her parents. As soon as this is done and the A/C is installed in the house I can play again out in the shop.

I fixed some squeaks, stuck up some window tinting, rattle canned a few things and got a new PC. Once I figure out MS Vista, I'll get some pics up. Its got the cable and FM tuner. Some audio files didn't transfer very well though, Im hearing crackles right now.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?
This was a LONG weekend for me. Thursday & Friday, went up to see my daughter graduate from the High School (Math & Science School). Saturday went to the other-in-laws as my wife's brother and family were visiting. Sunday was doing chores, visited with EdB, and pretty much goofed off. Monday I put all my parts on the Snapper and now have a smooth running mower again. Pulled the bed off the 70 and started to work on the rust I found.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?
ZERO truck related fun . I did get alot of yard work done. I'm almost finished . Late last night my wife filled the kitchen sink with water to flush out the garbage disposal and about 10 gallons of water came flying out of the doors into the kitchen . My disposal has deteriorated and tonight I have to buy and install a new one

Re: What did you get done this weekend?
Saturday - I painted the interior of the cab and cleaned the garage. Sunday - I painted the exterior. Monday - Started reassembly, (still need to straighten and paint the grill), went to the beach, and did some BBQ. I need to go to work so I can get some rest from my long weekend off!

Re: What did you get done this weekend?
I didn't work on the truck - but I did work with the truck.
While some parts of the country are flooding, we're in a drought. The lake is down over 2 feet from "normal" water levels. I used the truck to push the dock out farther so it is next to the lift which was pushed out farther 3 weeks ago. While I was thinking dock I finally installed the rest of my dock pieces so I can park all my stuff and still have room for boat-in guests.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?
Saturday- Drove 200/miles (RT) to pick up a '68 front clip, right bedside, both doors and other odds & ends for the six-seven. It's all in really good shape with just a touch-o-rot at the very inside bottom of the right front fender. I figure for the 2 franklins it cost me- I did pretty good. I hafta make a dump run to get the rest of our old kitchen out of my garage- so I can do the welding and whatnot.
Sunday-No quality time with the CST-10 today. The wife busted my hump with a bunch of backyard chores. I don't get it.....I'd just as soon pave the backyard and stash a couple more projects back there, and I'm certainly not the one who planted a fricken jungle behind our house, yet I'm the one who is stuck weeding, mowing, trimming, barkdusting, fertilizing, aerating, and thatching the whole thing- while the better half has the backbreaking job of turning on the sprinkler!! Oh well- I guess you get what you give-huh? Monday- Played a round in the morning.....hit a 108. My golf game is a big ole pile of suck! But a couple Fat-Tires and a Cohiba with some friends is always a good time. Did get a couple hours of wrench time though. I put in the new H/L Switch, Turn Signal Cancelling Cam and correct Steering Wheel. Started tearing into the doors I picked up on Saturday- so i can get them ready for the stripper. Wife decided that she'd rather have a small porch @ the back door instead of just the steps. So.......you guessed it- I started demo-ing the back stairs and dug holes for support posts for the new "porch" (the effin' thing is 8' x 10', which almost qualifies as a "deck" to me).

Re: What did you get done this weekend?
Spent most of the weekend doing the family thing, but Monday afternoon was a washout so I did get the motor and tranny out of the 72. I got started on the rockers and cab corners, I found a little more rust than I expected.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?
I had to work all three days at Lowe's, so I did not get anything done on the '71 C-10.
I drove Da Beast, what my wife calls my '71 C-10. all three days to work because my wife wrecked her car last Thursday and so she had to drive the 93 Camry I usually drive. My wife did not get hurt, but her Grand Marquis looks to be totaled. So now starts the long process of dealing with the insurance and finding another car. Danny -SEMO |

Re: What did you get done this weekend?
I completely gutted the interior of my 71 Chevy one-ton open road camper van. I tore out all the appliances, the propane system, the water system, the crapper, ripped out all the wood paneling, counters and cupboards AND the orange 2" shag disco carpet.
The plan is a simple rolling sleeper/tow vehicle for the Blazer.
