K-10/K-20 Spring Pertch width

Does any body know what the front Spring pertch width is for a 1967-1972 K-10/20? This is center of the LT spring pertch to center of the Rt spring pertch or center of Lt front spring to center of the right front spring. Are better yet does anybody know if a 73+ chevy truck front axle will bolt into the front of a 67-72 K-10/20 with out messing with anything (pertchs, springs)? Thanks for any help. I'am planning on converting my 71 c20 to 4x4 and the 73+ alxes are easier to find around here.

Dont know the width of the rear but I can tell you it's different between 69-72s and 73+.Just so you know in case you thought of using the rear axle from a 73+ too.The front will bolt right in to a 67-72 4wd.

The rear is not a problem, welding on new pertchs is not a problem there, just was wondering about the front, since the passengerside mount is cast into the center section. So a 73+ front end will bolt right into the earlier truck?

Thanks for all the help, now i just need to round up the part to start the swap. Any body know where to go for the front spring hangers and upper shackle mounts for the front end?

Re: K-10/K-20 Spring Pertch width

The spring width is 31.5'' and they are the same from 68-91. Converting a 2wd to a 4wd on the front using the stock 68-72 spring (44'' long) puts the shackle mount right on the frame dimple for the parking brake cable. At the moment I am designing a kit to convert the front----(a few parts are at the machine shop) The kit will probably utilize a spring length of either 53 or 54 inches long. Waiting for the parts back to finish.

Re: K-10/K-20 Spring Pertch width

like everyone said it will work. Just remember to get everything for the year truck that you pull it from (i.e. 1976 truck, dana44, calipers, bearings, hubs, steering arm, drag link, U-bolt plates, swaybar if it has one, steering box, brakelines etc..) There are a coupld of build thread in the forum about this swap...

Same width for 1967's too, maybe even further back.
