Re: A Deal on Tires

Personally I like getting them local. If I get a flat I can take it there and the roadhazard covers it. And the one time I got a flat and cut the sidewalls they replaced the tire for $20 to cover the change in price. I would go local just because it is easier if something goes wrong.

Re: A Deal on Tires

The only reason i've gone to discount tire, is that i get a discount through my camaro club, but i will admit, the service i've recieved has been first rate

otherwise i check out www.tirerack.com.
their prices are good, but the reviews make all the difference in the world. even if i am going to get tires locally, i check the site to do my research, before deciding which tire to purchase.

Re: A Deal on Tires

I just recently started pricing the tires for the wife's car and the best price, so far is the local guy. He came within just a little above the Web stores--once shipping was considered and the local guy will support any issues with the tires. I tried in the major cities around here and they all wanted 1/3 to 1/2 as much more.

Re: A Deal on Tires

not sure if you have Cosco nearby, but i hear their replacement cost if the tire is damaged is $1.00. YES, $1.00. My buddy gets his tires there exclusively, and the next set I buy will likely come from them too. Plus, there are so many locations, could come in handy if you're traveling.

Just something to look into before deciding...

Re: A Deal on Tires

Discount Tires is where I've bought the last 8 sets of tires. They have always given me exceptional service, even when out of town and I had to use them. They acted like I had bought from their store. Plus a couple of times, I've brought in a "checkout" printout from other online store, the Tire rack being one. And they beat the price.
Just my .02 worth.

Re: A Deal on Tires

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/home.do Their local stores are America's Tire -- I have bought from them, no complaints. I have also used http://www.tirerack.com/ without problems... and their website has a wealth of research info. I agree with buying locally when possible, and your local shop might price-match the online retailers. In fairness, remember to factor in shipping costs, as well as mounting, balancing etc.

Re: A Deal on Tires

Thanks for the info. I'm going to print out the cheapest online price and then look for something comparable locally. Sounds like the best way to go.

Re: A Deal on Tires

I got mine through Walmart online and they ship them to a local store near you and do not charge shipping. I got all 4 mounted, balanced, road hazard warranty for $325.00 out the door. They are Uniroyal 255/70R 15

I would really have to think for a while to add up buying 8 sets of tires.
You must go through them!!!

Plus the Michelin's we just put on my wife's car have an 80,000 mile WARRANTY!

I usually use Tirerack.com to find what I want, then price them local.
Only once have I ordered online, and Tirerack.com was the cheapest (shipping and all).
