Oh man big decisons!!!
Guy here has a 72 shorbed for sale that he is going to part out if he can't sell it whole. It is sitting on a newer frame like my stepside with a 400 turbo, 205 and 3/4 ton axles. The body isnt that great. Wants $600 but I think he would take $500. 72 was always my favorite and I have always wanted a fleetside done like my step for just driving around.
One problem. The city has just passed a law that they have to be current tags or it has to be inside. I don't have an inside right now. I am currently up grading some things on the stepside. |

Re: Oh man big decisons!!!
If you can't find something closer you can bring it down to my place and park it out back with my junk. It would bring a little class to the place as the only 4wd.

aww man you gotta get it. Dont you have a buddys house you can store it at? Or you can throw some A/V tags on it. I have plenty of room up here. I can hang on to it for you....mind if i take it to the Badlands Offroad Park?
I hope you get it.

Re: Oh man big decisons!!!
Randy, historic plates only run you $25 bucks, and your current until you decide to sell it/restore it/or just park it until the funds and time arrive. No reason to pass up on a good deal when one pops up, and this sounds like a good deal.
I'd say go for it.

Re: Oh man big decisons!!!
Just do what any good redneck would do...register it and let it sit in your front yard! At least around here, the township cant do anything if it has current tags.

Re: Oh man big decisons!!!
throw a tarp over it, down in ottawa kansas they did the same thing. So what the guy did was throw a trap over it so they couldnt see if it was tagged or not, therefore they cant do anything. Now if they came up and said the "wind" blew the tarp off or something then your screwed, but throw a trap and back it up to your grarge, as long as you have nice neighbors it will work.

Re: Oh man big decisons!!!
In MO, it's $25 for as long as you own the vehicle, for a historic plate. Historic plates are limited to 1000 miles of here and there driving, but if you are driving to a car show, swap meet, the parts store, and so on, those miles don't count toward the 1000, and I've heard from others that if they do get pulled over, they hardly ever have to show them the mileage chart. No inspections, just pick up some cheap auto insurance, get historic paltes, and you're good to go.
And it probably wouldn't hurt to keep a O'Reilly's Auto Parts bag, or your favorite chain, with a new bottle of oil, and then just say that you just picked up a new bottle from the parts store, and didn't need the receipt. ![]()

Re: Oh man big decisons!!!
Randy.... some good options mentioned... I'll add to BOSS's comment... i have a good tow bar, i can bring it with me, and you can use it to drag it to his place... or, IF i drive my truck, I'll tow it. (Things are always chainging, and it looks like I MIGHT not be taking my trip after the meet)
