Even though the white fender looks good, its not. Can't tell from this pic, but it has a big crunch dent right over the wheel opening all the way to the top near where it meet the hood, and the back half is loaded with bondo where it is rusted away. Also the lower front part that goes under the bumper was totally rusted away.

Just fill in the sidemarker light hole for a 67.

Blue_71, heres what I do and why. First I will say any GMC or 67-68 chevy will work ( the 68 chevy and GMC fenders will have trim holes to fill )
My style is 67 chevy so thats what I go for. I have several clean 69-72 chevy fenders and some junk GMC fenders. I take the front of the GMC (could use 67-68 chevy) and after cutting off the front of the 69-72, I put the GMC on. Pretty much that simple. Then fill in the side marker light holes for the 67 style fender.

I know it seems like a lot of labor to get at a 67 style fender, but a) it is OEM so the fit will be good, and b) I would rather use the money that good 67 style fenders would cost for other things I can not easily fabricate.

Hope this helps.

is there any way to make a 67/8 out of the 69-72 without using the front off a gmc or 67-8 chevy? if i could find any 67/8 chevy or GMC fenders i would just use them (im wanting to put a GMC grille on my truck)

All bow down to ebfabman!

Hey, could you swing by the house tomorrow? I'll run out and get you a few hundred square feet of sheetmetal so you can hammer out a new cab for me

Blue_71, yes there is but with the amount of labor it would take to do it that way, it would more than likely cost more than the type of fenders you need.

Rusty or dented up GMC or 67-68 chevy fenders are usually give away items, at that condition they are pretty much worthless.

Isn't it a lot of work to go through all that trouble to make a 67/68 fender out of a 69-72 fender? I would think for all that trouble and the patience you must have to make the fender look good, you could search for one or have one found for you. But don't get me wrong, if i was a god like ebfabman too i'd probably try it. But for that anyway don't you have to find 2 good fenders to make 1? couldn't you just find one good fender and use it???
just my 0.02.

thats the reason i was asking if i could make it without having the 67-8 fender.. i can find 69-72 all day long but i only know of 2 GMCs and 2 67-8 chevys in this town (theres alot of those trucks, but everyone is usually 69-72 chevy) i used to have two 68 fenders, a grill, cab, radiator support and door, but they got stole from my grandpas farm.....

Blue_71, where is Barren County? I live in Boone County, up near Cinncinnati and I go out to my girlfriends way(Grant County) and sometimes I go down where my mom lives(Madison County) and I either see trucks sitting in junk yards, open fields, or peoples yards(lol) but I'm sure if you did enough looking around you could find some good fenders. Just be patient. Sorry about your loss.

I wouldn't suggest cutting good fenders. There seems to be a lot of rusted fenders everywhere. If a fender is rusted, like gone, down where it bolts to the cab, or is dented badly, it is really not worth saving IMO

This is only worth doing if;

a) you have badly dented or rusted 67-68 chevy, or GMC fenders

b) you have some straight, solid 69-72 chevy fenders you have no use for

c) you need 67-68 chevy fenders

d) you have the resources, time, and like to fabricate things from sheetmetal

you know where Warren County/Bowling Green is Brabra? Barren/Glasgow is the next county over to the east. both the 67-8 chevys i know of are in fields, but one i cant find the owner and the other the guy wouldnt sell anything if his life depended on it.. i can only think where the one GMC is, cant remember about the other, but ones a restored driver and the other is a driver... i need to check junkyards but my dad "doesnt have time" and my mom is "too tired" or "too busy"

Yeah, I know where Bowling Green is. I think maybe if you just got a little hilljack-4-a-day. I do that when I'm with other family, I live in the suburbs now, with my grandparents. I think maybe you should check hillsides, not nessessarily in junk yards as i said before. But good luck on your hunt. If I find anything around I'll let the board know; I would rob them all for myself if I had a job and the money to buy them all with. Also, it sounds like you are a little on the young side, like how you depend on your parents for things, is that the case? Im in the same predicament as you. I'm only 15. Damn the bad luck.

yeah, Blue_71, I've been hearing rumors about having to wait a year instead of six months since I was like 11; I've yet to hear something solid about that rumor. I personally look older than I am(so I've been told) so if that rumor is true, you'll see a 16 year old white boy rollin around in his without worrying about a damn piece of paper that says I know how to drive.
