He is a member here. This man has spent a lot of time getting set up to do this. It's a great option for anyone building a truck with a damaged or missing SPID.

Re: new SPIDs

Yeah I don't have a problem with it unless you try to sell a plain jane truck as an original highly optioned truck.

well that woudlnt be the auction-sellers unethical behavior... that would be an unethical act by someone who built and then sold the truck.

Re: new SPIDs

I am the one who makes them, I strive to have them look like the original labels and most who have seen them would say I have done that. I work closely with the buyer until he/she is pefectly happy with their new label. I am in to detail, some people aren't and they make there own with a typewriter, nothing wrong with that at all either, to each his own. I have found that many people who have done high end restorations don't bat an eye at spending another $50-60 on a perfect label. I have had help from a few good guys on the board in developing these, in particular I owe Rod a big thank you as he has given me some very good info about options and labels in general.

I will be attending the board meet in Norwood and will be bringing down some samples for people to look at and have donated one to be given as a door prize at the meet.

Re: new SPIDs

Thanks for the recognition chipflyer. I have reviewed his spid labels, from font to character order....top notch reproduction, I believe his work would be done in an ethical manner or I wouldn't of helped him. Rod

Re: new SPIDs

If the original is missing how do find out what the original options that came on the truck are?

Re: new SPIDs

Only way to tell, is to look the truck over for what's still there, or what you can see may have been there at one point.
This is assuming the original build sheet is missing of course.

Re: new SPIDs

No rust option yet beautimus
I make these in my spare time as a hobby and rely on what a truck owner says they have for options, I don't drive to California or Texas and verify that his truck really does have a tach or tilt column. I would guess that some people have added original options to a trucks that they have restored and they want it on the label. I personally don't see a problem with this if it was an original option and has been properly installed.
My goal was never to deceive or be dishonest about a trucks options, I was just frustrated that you could buy about any repop item for our trucks to make them look new and beautifull again but there was no way to put text on a SPID label that didn't look totally fake. Thats why I started doing this.

Re: new SPIDs

Jeff~ Very nice work and I know what it takes to get it all just right. I will be getting one for a few of my projects showing LFD Inc. as the builder with any and all new build items added. When was the last time you saw a 70 2wd Blazer with the "C5" option on the SPID

Re: new SPIDs

yeah, i'm definitely gonna get one of these labels real soon. mine is COMPLETELY gone, as it was stripped off by the PO for painting.

do boardmembers get any kinda break on these?

also, how do you know which label, A, B, or C, goes on your truck? mine is a 70 CST longbed 2wd.

thanks for any info!

Re: new SPIDs

I bought one of these back in`90 that was reproduced. The guy (Gary Terry/aka:CheyenneSuperman) told me to just use IBM type.I bought it because I was chroming a glovebox door and wanted to keep the original door with original VIN-specs.It was then I realized that some of these beautiful highly optioned trucks could be created at time of the resto. But,that would be the intentions of the person buying it,not the seller.I bought one and that wasn`t my intention.Matter of fact,I never used it at all, still have it in the zip-lock it came in.

Re: new SPIDs

Jeff does GREAT work with these and with whatever he does. He is a perfectionist and a super nice guy. He's into detail in just about everything he does. He is just giving a owner a option to put on his truck or to update one that has been destroyed or removed or options added. Your doing a SUPER job Jeff, hang in there with anyone who thinks your not.

Re: new SPIDs

Jeff has had alot of very accurate comments made about him and I will chime in as well..... These Spid labels are as close to perfect as you can get, next to the original they look great. DO not hestitate to buy his PRODUCT. For those worried about ethics, check out the production numbers vs. SS or RS camaros out there. Jeff is doing a great srvice for those who want their trucks to show the detail and time that they have spent to bring them back to their former glory. Jeff keep up the great work!!

Re: new SPIDs

Can I get a VIN-plate made "REAL" accurately?Don`t worry,no need to make a title,I already have one.J/K I really wish I could get one made so I can duplicate the truck that was stolen from me years ago.I have the title and it`s the theif that broke the law.Oh well...
