how my weekend went

so yesterday i fly out to phx. to pick up the burban i just bought. looks great hopped in and started the 425 mile trip home. on the first fill up before we left phx. i checked all the fluids (luckily) no power steering fluid, low coolant and 1 1/2 qts. low on oil. also on the way home i find out the fuel guage and speedo don't work. 2nd stop flagstaff fill up and add 1qt of oil, last stop grants nm fill up and add 1qt. of oil. over all the truck did great, i have a little work to do. in the next month i plan on yanking the motor and replace all the gaskets, install new radiator and hoses, and fixing the speedo and fuel guage. i only spent 150 of gas which i think was good.

You are pretty upbeat considering the problems you had. Were these all expected?

Re: how my weekend went

so i replaced the speedo cable it broken internally, and i modified the sending unit. tested the sending unit and found it to be good, so i removed the float and gave it a pinch and gas was leaking out of two little pin holes. we couldn't get just the float so i bent the float rod and installed a 2006 gmc truck float. works like a champ, tommorrow i'm going to clean up the rear end, replace the pinon seal, diff gasket and shim the starter.
