Look what I found behind my..

Bench seat in the 68. I think it is the dealer or maybe the factory option sheet? It was pretty much shredded but I peiced together what I could and found some cool info about my truck. Yes I framed it and and yes I am a dork like my wife said to me about framing it..lol The weird circle designs all over are the spring marks. Why did they put that sheet behind the seats like that? Did they not know that would ruin them?

Re: Look what I found behind my..

Sometimes there are two of them, one in the back and one in the bottom. It really takes 2-3 sets of hands to remove them in one piece. I saved several of them too...don't feel badly. It is nice to have if you are restoring a truck back to stock.

Re: Look what I found behind my..

the most common place for the build sheet on these trucks seems to be stuffed into the springs on the bottom cushion of the seat.
This was the sheet that told the assembly line workers what options (eng/tranny/gears/A?C... ) to go on... it also had tid bits like what pullys and belts went on, and that kind of stuff.
I have mine, all taped up and in a document protector, but it is 100% there.

it looks to be a very well equipped truck... has it been ID'd as a 50th annv truck yet? I can't quite make out the numbers, but the last two on the right look to be a positive ID to me.
I see guages, posi track, custom camper, built in friemont, custom comefort group, front sway bar (part of camper package) ... that's about all i can make out on there.

Re: Look what I found behind my..

I found most of what i think was a dead cat in mine last summer.

I hauled my home from CA, where i left it 4 years ago, and immediately noticed a foul smell, removed the seat, and

wouldv'e rather found a build sheet

I've heard from Camaro guys that the sheet wasn't really put there on purpose -- it was just a way of discarding them. That's why you won't always find one

Re: Look what I found behind my..

I wish I knew these were there before I got my seat reupholstered. Fortunately the guy put it back behind the springs and did not through it away. I wish I could preserve it. Guess I 'll just have to wear my seat out again and get it next time.

Re: Look what I found behind my..

...well i doubt i will have one of those seeing as how the idiot who had my truck jerked the orig. seat out and welded the brackets for a ford seat in. then shoved an 80's model ford seat in it. he even put ford mirrors on it. if he wanted a ford why didnt he buy one.

Re: Look what I found behind my..

I just found 2 of them in my truck this weekend. I was replacing the rubber floor mat. When I pulled out the old mat and pad, there they were. They were right under the feet of the driver and passenger for the last 37 years. Mine was assembled in Freemont, Ca and shipped to a dealership that is about 30 miles from me. One is barely legible and the other is in good shape. Kinda cool to find.

Re: Look what I found behind my..

Build sheets are really cool, and can prove or disprove some of the odd option combinations that came from the factory.
For instance, I have a 1968 GMC parts truck (link in my sig), with a Dana 44 rear end with 3.54 gears. Kind of an odd setup, but the build sheet verifies that it is the way the factory built it.

Re: Look what I found behind my..

I found two factory options sheets in my glove box in perfect condition. Can anyone tell me where I can find out what these codes mean?

Re: Look what I found behind my..

welcome to the board... if you start a new thread, asking what the codes are and listing them... or photos even, we should be able to tell you.
However, doesn't the sticker flat out tell you?
