Good bye to my sanity keeper..

Well she's gone.....

New owner picked it up last night and was totally acting like a giddy little school girl!! The guy is 62, retired and all of 4ft 9" and can barely reach the pedals! He can't wait to go tootling to all the local car shows. I hit my target buyer right on the nose!! I'm just happy he paid me the $13k and left as fast as he did! The dang thing was growin on me.

I am pretty sure that I sold it for a little less that I could have gotten for it but I just want to move on to my other projects and my family. This truck has served dual purpose for me. It's been a sanity keeper for me when I got laid off. It's also been a reality check. When times got tough I had something I could go beat on without spending a ton of money. It's allowed me to show my friends/acquaintances that I do know what I am doing and have the skills to do pretty much anything I put my mind to.
I started with this:

I have done EVERYTHING on this truck myself except shoot the "exterior" paint. I was going to do that but a friend of mine that has been a painter for over 15 years offered to paint it for free! (It was a hard choice to make believe me. I painted back in the day but I am rusty)

Now that i have the extra cash in the bank I'll be upgrading my shop with insulation, sheetrock, paint plumbing and additonal electrical. I also want to pickup a few new tools including a lathe, small mill, Sheet metal brake and some other new tools. I'd love to dump it all into the shop but I also need to finish paying off my addition that I put in last summer.

One last thing.. THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING RESPECTFUL AND GREAT PEOPLE WHILE YOUR HERE ON THE BOARD. It's sure is nice to know that you can still talk with real people that don't need to inflate their egos while hiding behind a computer screen! You guys & gals (Liz) are the best. I won't own a 73-87 anymore but I will definately be poppin back in to check on your projects and to get knowledge that I know is in this group.

Until then...CHEERS!!

DUDE!! There is no way in HELL I would have sold that truck!! I would have gone flat broke 20 times over just paying for the gas for all the driving around in it I would have been doing!!

*shakes head* Why can't I be rich instead of good looking? Oh, wait..... :cries:

Re: Good bye to my sanity keeper..

John, sad to see the truck go...but I understand there are other things in life we all have to do, accomplish or experience.

I am glad I met you, and want to say "thanks" for the help you have offered and given to me.

Good luck with your shop, and definately stop in every now and again and say "Hi". You don't have to own a 73-87 to hang out here, you just have to have the passion.

Take care!

Re: Good bye to my sanity keeper..

What a shame to see that truck go and like the person above me said i want to paint my truck the same color. I love the color orange, if my car was already deside to be dark in color id go orange. (but my friends would most likely disown me)

It's always tough to let go of great toys, but at least the buyer seemed like a good guy who won't trash it.

Sorry Josh, the '31 ain't goin to anyone else in my lifetime.

I was gonna try to go down to End of the World Rod Run if I still had the truck but unfortunatley I will not. I was gonna try to grab a or 2 from Boatpuller while I was down there. If you go down there give him a heads up. He lives just outside of town. Said something about cold & Ice

He was also talking about running up to XXX in Issaquah for the truck show on July 22nd. I offered a few and maybe even burn some beef on the grille if he wanted swing out my way.
