uh oh! CPP parts a problem???
I am just about to start a frame off on my 72 and had planned on a CPP "Grand Slam " kit to rebuild the frame it includes: spindles, bearings, calipers, 12" rotors, brake hoses, master cyl, prop valve,Power booster, all 4 shocks, inner and outer tie rod ends, custom adj sleeves, all 4 coil springs, upper and lower ball joints, seals, spindle nuts, dust shields and dust caps as well as all necessary hardware for a total of $1299......Now I have read a few threads where some guys are complaining about the products from CPP..........Is it a legitimate beef? should I look elsewhere like ECE and piecemeal the kit.? $1299 is a great price but not if the quality suffers, and with what this build is gonna cost overall,I do not want to p*ss any money away that can be spent better elsewhere, but, by the same token I do not want to have any headaches with poor quality parts. So........... I am relying on the input and experience of those of you who have dealt with CPP for some valid input..........thanx in advance for your help..........Bill

Re: uh oh! CPP parts a problem???
sorry I cant recomend anyone else ( because I havnt ever ordered from ece) but I have ordered from CCP and was not too thrilled with it. Most of the stuff I ordered I took a look at and was like "man, I paid a 100 bucks for this"
Another thing that annoyed me was the crap for shipping they have- took like three weeks to get some coil clamps

Re: uh oh! CPP parts a problem???
I've ordered from them before, and didn't have any problems. Although, from what I've read regarding others' experience with them, I was lucky.

Re: uh oh! CPP parts a problem???
Wow...I have spend close to $6k with them over the last year or more on my truck and my Son's Nova and have only had small issues that were quickly resolved. I have no problems with quality and customer service has always made sure I was taken care of. NOW, I do only live about an hour from them and all of my dealings with them have been me picking the items up, so I cannot comment on shipping.
I have bought lowered springs to disk brake kits and dropped spindles...Power steering conversions and power brake M/C & Boosters...The only issue I really had was they gave me the wrong brake lines so I had to get different ones, but customer service has always been the best. I know that they have problems, and on another site I frequent there was discussions about it too. But I think for the most part you'll find them to be much better than most. Mike |

Re: uh oh! CPP parts a problem???
I bought half my stuff from CPP and half from ECE. The support I got at ECE was excellent. I wish I had gotten everything from them. Stan, Dave and the rest of the crew are very helpful if you get stuck.
Never had problems with CPP parts though. I just prefer ECE.

Re: uh oh! CPP parts a problem???
My Dad got a front disc brake kit from CCP for his 68 Camaro, It was a huge pain in the ----. They sent the wrong parts and then aruged with us when we called them, he paid extra for drilled rotors they sent regular ones. I was only after he said that he would stop payment on his card were they willing topay the extra money back. They sent a kit alright but we still aren't sure what it fits(or how many different cars). The master and booster fit but the lines were from who knows what so we had to make our own. I will never buy any thing from CCP, because of what my Dad went through.

Re: uh oh! CPP parts a problem???
I have bought a lot of parts from CPP in the last year including the Grand Slam Kit, Adjustable Trac Bar, Transmission Mount, Front / Rear Sway Bar Kit, Rear Drop Kit, Rear Disk Brakes.
Everything arrived within a short time after it was ordered. I can't speak to the reliability or function of the parts since my build isn't finished yet. I did by my Motor Mounts from ECE and they also arrived within a short time after they were ordered. Hope this helps..... |

Re: uh oh! CPP parts a problem???
Haven't ordered from CPP yet, but I have installed a couple of Early Classic drop kits and sway bars. Customer support is excellent from these fellas. Terry helps me out quite a bit with any questions I have.

Re: uh oh! CPP parts a problem???
I used the CPP drop kit ( 3/4 springs, swaybars, shocks etc..) and had no problems and the parts are top quality. The kit has been in for about 4 years ( they may have new staff now ), but they were nothing but helpful and proffessional.

Re: uh oh! CPP parts a problem???
CPP now runs a banner ad on this site. I'm not sure if they are a board vendor or not. It's nice to be able to PM the board vendors with questions that come up!

Re: uh oh! CPP parts a problem???
I ordered a 3/4 drop from CPP. The first shipment was short the front coils and all four shocks. I spoke with them and they were pretty helpful- they said that the front coils ship with the shocks. I told them just to send me the coils and send the shockswhen they get more. They did with no problems, I got the coils 3 days later and the shocks about a week after that. It was not a big deal to me since the truck is STILL at the body shop, but would have been diffrent if it was my DD..

For your brake stuff you should check out Mike's Bump and Grind Garage.
http://bumpandgrindgarage.com/ He's a vendor, and I have been dealing with him the past couple of days on a problem I had with some brake issues - super nice guy, and extremely helpful. User name on here is mbgmike. DLB |
