04 burb bug deflector
I just installed a Lund bug deflector on my 04 suburban and now all from 30-65mph I can hear a high pitched whistle. It's less noticable at higher and lower speeds than that. I absolutely don't want to take it off. Is there anything that can be done to "shut it up"? I think the larger gap between the deflector and the hood on the outer 4" is the culprit.

Re: 04 burb bug deflector
thats why... those stick out alittle farther than the plastic ones. did you push it in all the way against the hood.

Re: 04 burb bug deflector
I had to bend the tabs a little but I was afraid if it went any more the center tab that's split would pull out from the screw. I put the rubber stops on the hood at the closest point to the deflector per the instructions and they touched. I can try to lean it back a little but I'll have to get a bigger washer for the middle.
Thanks |

Re: 04 burb bug deflector
I read online a while back, I tried to find it again but I can't seem to find it, there was some people having this problem and it is from the different angle the air hits the windshield or something, anyway they put double sided tape between the rubber and the windshield and it stops the whistle. I think there is only a small area you have to do it but i can't remember where it was.

Re: 04 burb bug deflector
GM offers a heavier windshield molding just for that. It is heavier than the original molding. A lot of times the upper molding has a tendency to make a flapping noise also, edpending on the type of bugshield.

Re: 04 burb bug deflector
You can also try cleaning between the windshield side molding and windshield. Run a light bead of 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive between the two. That's what we did until they made the redesigned molding available.

Great info guys. Thanks. I'll try to google "windshield whistle" and see what I come up with.

Re: 04 burb bug deflector
^Go to GM-trucks.com and use their search. But, all the fixes I read on there are the same as the ones already posted. Mine does it too, but it doesn't bother me, I listen to the radio a little too loud

Re: 04 burb bug deflector
Thanks. It doesn't bother me too much because I don't drive it often. But if the wife ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
