Talking First Blazer - Project 1969 K5 4WD and sweet pinstripes!

Hello All, I'm new to the board. But, allready you folks have helped me solve several problems. To be honest I don't know alot about cars but I'm learning as I go and I really appreciate the knowledge on this board I wouldn't have known where to start. The broke windsheild, the leaky steering pump and box, the crushed oil pan, the transmision that is pouring fluid out the pan, the NP205 that is leaking worse, or the wiring hack job that at least works on the outside. Thanks in advance 'cause I'm gonna have lot's of questions and hello from sunny New Mexico.

WELCOME!!! I don't have a blazer, but I wish I did. I think that you'll love the blazer more than the CJ5. You might not be able to get into as tight of spots with the blazer, but the parts are so much beefier and being a chevy, theyre a lot more interchangable(sp?). I take it that the hum-vee in your avatar indicates that you're in the military???

Re: First Blazer - Project 1969 K5 4WD and sweet pinstripes!

Congrats on the new Blazer - looks nice. Welcome to the board as well...

I recently bought one - but is hasn't reached me yet (still in shipping ), but that just allows me to stash some cash to do some things to it once it reaches me

Sounds like a lot of fun (little) projects to learn more about your Blazer (and cars in general) are coming your way.

I would agree with what others have said - you came to the right place. If you can't find the answer by searching this forum - just ask the question - and chances are somebody has done it or has some knowledge on who does know.

I would agree with you - the pinstripes ARE pretty neat!

from Oregon. It looks like you have a nice solid body to start with. The other stuff is normal for rigs our rigs, but it is all just part of the fun.

Awfully clean looking K5 - I can't see any rust! That is a huge plus if it is rust free. Welcome to the board!

Yes sir it's clean it's got like half an inch of paint on it and shows to have been originally red on build sheet. There is some ( very little) cancer on the driver side rocker under the door and in the floorboard on the passenger side were somebody let water get under the floor mat and sit but neither is to bad. The front left fender and door have got some bondo in a couple of spots. But she seems pretty good all around.

Looks like it just needs a coat of wax and a front bumper and you're good to go (of course, ya might want to fix the mechanical issues before you drive too far from home.)

from Madera, California. I miss New Mexico; lived there for a couple of years in Corrales and then Rio Rancho. Looking back, wished I never left because it grew on me after awhile and was definetely alot more laid back than here.

Yeah, born and raised in Texas. San Antonio to be exact. There are several of us on the board from the S.A. area. BLIZZ (my brother), Critter, Jtrux, and myself. We all have blazers that we work on every chance we get. Well take care in N.M. and give us a shout if you have any questions. Later, Mario.
