steering column mount
quick question i am droping in a standard chevy stering colom in my 53 what size of top mount do i need? locar list several drop distances 2" 3" 4"... what are you guys using???? oh and what should i use on the floor. i've seen a lot of guys use something like a pipe to hold the bottom in... so many questions... throttle peddle, what should i put on the floor for my 350? i would love to use the stock throttle mount and peddle but the holly probably needs some sorta a cable...

Im going to use exhaust clamps, but my column is different than yours I think.
I dont have tilt either so my height will be off as well.. I just realized how pointless my post is... |

I used the stock mount and fab'd a cover for the floor. The column is a chevy van w/ the key on the dash.
Try using a broom stick and paper plate to mimic your steering column. Be sure to be sitting at the height and proper distance. |

I went with an Ididit tilt/shift column and I used a billet swivel floor mount. I also bought a piece of 2.25 inch exhaust pipe to mock up so that I didnt scratch my chrome column.
Exhaust pipe comes in many different diameters so this may work for you as well. I went with a 5" drop because I made a custom lower dash panel that will house all of my A/c controls and vents. Good luck. Marc |
