Stagger wheel size or not? 18" & 20" or 20" all the way, What do you think? This is the only thing between me and a new set of wheels. Any Ideas or oppinions are welcome.

I did the staggered sizes because I was going to drive everyday & didn't want to worry about potholes tearing up the front rims/tires. I would prefer the same diameter wheels all the way around but it's tough to get the right size needed up front & not be too big because you're limited by manufacturers sizes.

If you can get the wheels in the right widths, 255-40/20's on 8.5's & 295-40/20's on 10's work very well & the fronts should survive common road conditions.

Wat size tires are you running? It looks like I can get a 18c8 for the front and a 20x8.5 for the rear, no 20x9.5 or 10 option

I have 18x8 5.25" BS w/245-45/18's up front & 20x10 5.00" BS w/295-40/20's in the back.

My fronts drag the a-arms more than I care for & on the 73-up body style you can get away w/less BS & still keep the wheel 'tucked' fairly well. IMO
5.00" front BS would work better for my 74 but I already had the wheels from another project.

I have 18-8 w/4"bs front and 20 9.5 w/4.5bs on the rear on order. I have always liked the was 18's and 20's look...

What rims and size tires are you going with?

I ordered some centerlines about a month ago, new wheel and they are still building them.. Not for sure on the tire size but i'm thinking 275 40 20's and maybe a 255 45 18? Not real sure yet..

Has anyonE stuffed a 315 35 20 under the rear of a 67-72 w/o mods? I think my wheel will be too narrow but a 12.5" tire is great ...

Wich ones did you order? I am thinking about ordering the Voltage series. I'm not crazy about the rear backspacing though and rim size 20x8.5 withe a 5.4 BS. They donot offer these rims in a 20x9.5 or 10 unfortunately

I plan to run 18"/20" staggered, I test fitted 20's on all 4 corners, see
pic below, but aired out I did not like the looks of the front. And I plan
to have mine drivable aired out, just in case of them oh chit situations.

That's air'd out, 2.5" spindles, tall cups, on snubbers in rear, no c-notch

You would want 11 ~ 12" wheels for that tire. W/some mini-tubs & the right front wheel/tire to compliment, it would look nice.

Anybody using 5.4 backspacing on a 20x8.5? if so what does it look like? and what size tires are you going with?

OK, I have ordered my rims now the tire size is killing me. I went with the staggered look 18x8 & 20x8.5 now I am having trouble finding tire sizes that would work with this stagger. Any advise would be appreciated

I have the 315/35/20s but I widened my rear tubs to make it work, plus I am running a narrower rearend. IIRC the stock wheel tub is only 11.5" on the inside so the 315 just won't fit.

I was going to order the 295 wide but my tire guy thought we should try the 315 first. He was right. I thought I would need a wider than 10" wheel but it actually fits really well, the sidewall is vertical, not pulled back like I suspected it may be. This is a 20x10 with 3" BS.

I am running 18x8 up front with 4.5 BS and 255/45s. Sorry no side picts yet, garage is too small for that!

Looks great.. I might check and see if 295's will fit with my setup.. I could always run shorter axels i guess and do some small tubs.Just have to wait and see, still need a bed to do all the fitting .

1st.... For future reference (& for the benefit of others), never buy wheels w/o knowing what tires you are using. On an 8" wheel, tire width could go from 225mm ~ 255's & look good; 8.5's would go from 245mm ~ 275's. These sizes would keep the tire fairly square w/the wheel.

Go to Tirerack.com & select tires. Enter the rear tire size & it will give you several choices. The best options would be based on sidewall/overall height. Once you select a tire, click the 'specs' for a listing of other sizes in the same tire.

I would try Eagles RS-A in a 235-50/18 (F) & 255-50?20 (R).

Only thing is Danny used wider wheels in the rear & that size tire might not look right on an 8.5" wheel.

For tires I use the BFG site, I pic out a Tuner tire, sorry, and it gives
me sizes and spec's on everything they carry in a chart. You can get
overall diameter measurements, section width, RPM's, etc .............
