Road Trip!!! PA or bust! Will update daily on progress
1,855 miles... Two cars, 88 Chevy Suburban w/ U-Haul 6x9 covered trailer and 2005 Dodge Durango. Two drivers, myself and my father-in-law. Burb has been totally gone through, all fluids are new, new belts, new hoses, etc. and the D just had a 30k mile service. Pretty much a straight shot down the good ole I-80.
In preparation for the moving truck, I am on about 3 hours of sleep. I won't be hitting the road until this evening and that will only be a few hundred miles for safety reasons. I will post findings, observations and mileage along the way as we stop in hotels until we get there. Here is a link to the starting line- http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en...76758&z=6&om=1 Wish us luck!

rt 80 is a loooonnnnggg road. Just watch out for the Deer. It's not fun bouncing one off the hood. Good luck on your trip.
You can keep driving a few more hours and hit New England coast...

Re: Road Trip!!! PA or bust! Will update daily on progress
Day 1 of driving is done. My initial idea was to leave Tuesday afternoon, but that last part of moving stuff and cleaning out a house is very long.
Here was our trek today- http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...38281&z=4&om=1 So far so good! Burb is beating me up a bit and she spent a lot of time from 3k-4k between 2nd and 3rd going up some nasty grades. My only complaint would be that the truck shifted REALLY hard when it downshifted from 3rd to 2nd. Tomorrow should land us in Omaha.

Wait till you get to PA, last Friday I had to deal with the same issues, and nowhere else but like 100 miles southeast of Pittsburgh - the Lincoln was in 2nd gear damn near 75% of the time, them 29" tires make for some hard climbing, and going down using the engine as a retarder was the only way to not overheat the brakes...

Re: Road Trip!!! PA or bust! Will update daily on progress
Sorry for not updating... We are here now. We stopped in Omaha, NE on Thursday night and then drove straight through to Pittsburgh, PA leaving Omaha on Friday morning and arriving Saturday morning, almost 24 hours driving from 7AM-7AM total.
We made it safe and sound. EXHAUSTED though. Burb doesn't fit in the garage... It picked up some tick in the valvetrain along the way. I haven't run full calculations yet, but I would expect the final tally to be 9-10MPG for the 1800+ mile trip.
