Body mount shims question

I'm confused about the body mounts. My front mounts has solid ships about 1/4" thick. The rear have hard rubber shims. I assume the front needs to be solid so the fenders, etc. align correctly, while the back offers a little cushion because the bed is independent. But looking on line it appears like replacements use rubber at all 4 locations. Won't that cause problems at the front keeping the fenders in alignment? Thanks Patrick

Re: Body mount shims question

what year truck? 47- 55 ist are different than 55 2nd to 59. The idea is to have the front somewhat rigid and the back allow for frame flex. If the back pivots to much the front sheet metal would crack and pull the mount tabs off. if all the mount were rigid the cab would start to get stress cracks as the frame flexes.
