The Blazer saved my fence(pic's)
I haven't posted in quite some time so here goes nothin.
I had a couple dying cedar tree's along the fence line of my back yard. I felled one with no problems but the 2nd was leaning heavily towards my wrot iron fence. I didn't want to chance it falling the wrong way and taking out my 125 year old fence. So after I made a relief cut I drove the blazer around and hooked up the winch. Went back and started to make a cut on the opposite side of the relief cut untill I heard the tree start to creek with movment. Then back to the Blazer and winched it over. Well...that's my post for this month.

Nope,
my life changed drastically about 14 months ago...the Blazer has taken a back seat since then. This was my life changer.

Re: The Blazer saved my fence(pic's)
Ha ha! I too have used the winch on my bumper to fell a tree.
ALSO: -Used it to move and place a preformed concrete porch. -Used it to move my tank 59 Belair project around the yard...a lot. -Used it to pull a stump. -Used it to pull a car out from under the engine crane during a motorswap. -Used it to pull a stuck semi-truck out of the ditch (seriously). -Used it (w/a snatch block) to help pull the Dana 60 front end back under the truck during a spring swap. I dont know how I ever lived w/o it?

Note:Always place Blazer at a greater distance from the tree than the tree`s longest dimension.
Good job! And,glad to see you have a little one of your own. I just had a huge limb come down out of an old elm tree.I got to use my Highlander to haul the wood over to my woodshed. It filled my bed.

Re: The Blazer saved my fence(pic's)
We just had a hellish big storm come through!
We were out on the porch watching the last of it go by when my wife basically screams and scares the crap outta me... What she saw was my oldest daughters tree we had planted when she was born had been blown over. (planted 12 years ago and fairly large) I spun around and headed to get the keys to my blazer, drove it into the back yard (super soft and on a hillside) tore the grass up pretty good getting into position. Threw the tree saver around it about 4ft up and winched away. It had fallen down hill and would have been impossible to move any other way. Pulled it back to where it used to live then pounded three stakes into the ground and used and old tow strap to tie it off. Cleaned up the yard, wiped the tears from my daughters face and called it good. |

I know what you mean about the life changing events. Got 3 of my own. The way I look at is, didn't stop my 4x4 project-just put it on hold for awhile. Good luck!
