Some progress pics!

Got the blazer back from the media blaster where he cleaned all paint, repainted 2 part epoxy primer on all surfaces the painted the bottom and beneath side of the fenders with semi gloss black. I got it home and yesterday I put it back onto the frame with new body mounts and getting it ready for body work. I thought I would post some progress.

Thumbs up Re: Some progress pics!

Wow - looks good - it's amazing how some media blasting, epoxy and some paint can make things look new again.

Great Job!

Re: Some progress pics!

Thanks! The frame is painted with a chassis black from Eastwood that was supposed to be a semi gloss but it turned out to be a little more glossy than that, it's ok though. Powder coat would have been way expensive I think.

Nice job! Looks good!

The nice thing about that Eastwood paint is you can buy the spray bomb to touch up those nicks & scratches as you put things back together.

You are right! I do need to trim up the rear ones a bit. Thanks. The fronts were trimmed up some time ago.

Powdercoating a chassis is somewhat costly (been there, done it), but it is so incredibly durable I think it's worth it. I had the chassis in my Typhoon done, it was double coated in 80% gloss black, along with the bumpers, suspension arms, cross members and spindles. It cost just shy of $1000, including transport, high pressure chassis cleaning and sandblasting prior to the coating.

It still looks just like that 2 years and 2200 miles later

Re: Some progress pics!

Man that thing has had it. Good luck with it. My mom had one when I was 16, I would take it out on dates. well that is what I told her, my buddy and I would take it drag strip and I would kick some butt. This was when no one new what a Typhoon was. I was running 1/8 in 8.5, mustangs were mad at me..

I would like to see it when you get it done.

Trav

Re: Some progress pics!

Looks outstanding!! nice work

I have a question about powder coating. Does it crack easily when you tighten bolts against it? I have been told this but if it were true I don't think a frame would look so good after time and miles??
Did you have this problem at all and if so how did you prevent it???

thanks

Re: Some progress pics!

With a correctly done powder coating job you should be able to hit it with a hammer and it shouldnt chip. Powder Coat is the ultimate in protection and strength. But what ever you are powder coating has to be blasted properly and the temps have to be correct.
