2wd rear leaf spacer

since a 4wd rear leaf spring is different compared to a 2wd rear leaf spring I was wondering if anyone knows who carries spacers for 2wd rear leaf spring. The spacer between the leaf spring and the U-bolts.
thanks

Darin

Re: 2wd rear leaf spacer

if youre talking about a spacer as in a loweringblock then you can get them anywhere that has lowering blocks or you can use square tubing

Re: 2wd rear leaf spacer

it is a thin piece of metal that lays on top of the leaf spring and the U-bolt goes around it. there is a picture of it on LMC magazine on page 128, middle of the page and it is #5. I couldn't upload the url, sorry.

Just a shot in the dark, but maybe in the LMC magazine on page 128...

Re: 2wd rear leaf spacer

I don't think those would fit because 4wd rear leaf springs are 2.5 inches wide and 2wd rear leaf springs are 2.25 inches wide. I've looked in all my magazines and no one carries the spacer for 2wd rear leaf. If I bought the ones on LMC maybe I should just shave a little metal of the sides, but there has to be some one who carries them.

Re: 2wd rear leaf spacer

Can you give a little more info on what you are trying to do? No body offers one for a 2wd because they didnt use them on a 2wd. Part #5 on page 128 is a 4wd only part. There is a small flat block that goes between the axle perch & the spring for a 2wd but thats all that was ever on one...

Re: 2wd rear leaf spacer

When I removed the rearend on my 2wd shortbed rear leaf spring pickup, it had a spacer on top of the leaf spring on each side(#5 on page 128, LMC), it was rusted and beyond use. LMC only offers it for 4wd, 2.5 inches wide and 2wd are 2.25 inches wide. If no one carries the spacer(2.25inches wide) then I will have to fabricate something.
Thanks for the help

Re: 2wd rear leaf spacer

I think Ive got it now. Is the part you are looking for in orange? I flipped the rearend on mine & may(or maybe not) have those laying around somewhere. Ill look tomorrow. If I do have them I cant sell them to you, but will give them to you if you get a subscription to the site. Like I said, they may be gone...

Re: 2wd rear leaf spacer

If you have the pair of spacers for a 2wd short bed and they are in good condition, then I will get a subscription to this website. If you find them check if they are 2.25 inches wide.
thanks Corn

Re: 2wd rear leaf spacer

Most GMCs would have them considering a majority of them had leaf springs. If you come upon a GMC in the junkyard you might pull them off it.Those are to simply keep the u-bolts where they need to be,IIRC.I dont even have them on my 4wds...A 4wd one *might* work,I dont remember my old ones being as wide as the springs anyway. You could always trim them down to the correct width if needed...
