Clutch disc size?
My '67 C10 has a hot rebuilt '79 350. 325-350 HP. No idea what the torque is. It came with the truck when I bought it. It has a "stock" '79 350 C-10 clutch and saginaw 3 speed. It sounds and acts like it ate the clutch and transmission. Haven't pulled the old stuff off yet, but clutch was pretty far gone anyway . . . I want to use the Sachs/Borg & Beck high performance clutch set for a replacement, either the 350 ft-lbs set or the 450 ft-lbs set.
Anyone used either set? Local mechanics/hot rodders say it works well as a high performance clutch, but has less pedal effort. What size is a "stock" '79 350 clutch? 10.5", 11", or 12"? I have seen a set listed as 10.75" also, but I don't believe that would be a stock GM size. Thanks for any info.

Re: Clutch disc size?
You can run an 11 or 12 " on the same flywheel.....my guess is the 1/2 ton with sb will be an 11 ' setup. I dont have any experiance with the clutch you are talking about, but will say that the Centerforce dual friction is one nice setup. Lite on the peddle pressure(diaphragm style), & man do they take a beatin! The only downside is they are a bit pricey. best of luck, L

Re: Clutch disc size?
Stay with a diaphragm style, or your leg will be hating you. 325-350 horse isn't that much. I went with the zoom clutch for muscle cars... they claim 25% more holding powerover stock. No problems on the street with it for me, and the pedal is still light.

The Sachs/Borg & Beck is a diaphragm style. Thanks for the inputs. I think mine will be an 11", but won't know for sure until its apart.

Re: Clutch disc size?
I'm running an 11" clutch Centerforce II on the 350 in my '71 GMC Jimmy 4x4. Eleven inches was OEM stock for my application [SM465/NP205]. After about 8 years I'm still happy with the Centerforce.
