Re: Unlimited Products Hood

I had a unlimited cowl hood on my '73...quality and fit and finish sucked. Sold it and went back to a stock steel hood.

I also went back to stock because I thought the cowl hood made the front of the truck look too big from the side.

Re: Unlimited Products Hood

Thanks for the info... Maybe I'll just wait till the All Truck Nats again this year in Carlilse. Could have brought home a goodmark steel cowl hood last year for 325 bucks.

Re: Unlimited Products Hood

Avoid it! They are junk. I can confirm this because I told a friend who is building a Drag Vega to not get one, he did anyway. He said the 30 year old Vega body was straighter than the UP hood. He spent all day Saturday fitting the hood so he could race it that night. He really didn't care since it is actually a drag car, but he said he would never buy from them again...

Re: Unlimited Products Hood

Chris, my hood had such a big bow it in, you would think it was a factory creased hood, glassed over with a cowl added!! I ended up getting small sguare tubing and making my own braces for each side, anchoring them to the hood with well nuts to pull it straight so it would look halfway decent.

Re: Unlimited Products Hood

Unlimited Products are junk. If you want to run a cowl hood, we can get you a steel 2" Tri-Plus hood

Re: Unlimited Products Hood

Well alright then, I'll steer way clear of that place then! Just think our trucks would look sweet with a larger than 2" Cowl hood... just because of how wide the hoood is. Thanks for the info.

Re: Unlimited Products Hood

Ever considered a harwood 4 inch cowl then?

I run one on my monte carlo, fit, finish and quality is excellent. I had pics somewhere of a 73-87 blazer with one on it, looks great.

They make 3 or 3-1/2's 4 inch and 6 inch, even 8 inch but I'm not sure what ones they have for 73-87 trucks. I bought mine from summit and got it shipped to the door for alot cheaper then anyone else.

Here's a link to them....

http://www.eharwood.com/catalog/cata...category=HOODS

Looks like they only have 3 inch and 4 inch for 73-87's.

Re: Unlimited Products Hood

If I remember correctly without looking http://usbody.com/ has a 3.5" cowl that is fiberglass. I can personally vouch for their quality.

Re: Unlimited Products Hood

Really Chris?

I heard just as many people say bad things about us body source as they did if not more then unlimited products.

I personally wanted to order from both because they are cheaper then alot of other places. But hearing everyone talk bad on them turned me
away and so I went harwood and I can definately say their stuff is great.

I think usbody has ALOT of fiberglass parts, I think they used to make complete body shells for 73-87's and tilt front ends, pull off one piece front ends, cabs, doors, beds, bedsides, all that. I really liked that they had all thoose fiberglass parts.

Was it someone that actually used USB products? The truck I am building for my website is using one of their tilt hoods. I like it enough that I am going to get another one from them...

Re: Unlimited Products Hood

You know honestly it's been a year or so I don't really know.

I'd trust your opinion, esp. since you have your own forum.site, have alot of parts for sale, being a dealer or store owner, and a lover of the 73-87's I know you are like myself and alot of others, in the sense that if it aint good you'll be the first to say so.

I know that's how I am, if I like something, fit nice, or good price I like to pass it on, but if it sucks I'll be the first to mention it everytime.

From that picture the fit looks very nice, good gaps and looks like very good quality piece. You got more pics of it or the build I'd like to check it out.

It has its own thread build up on my site and here...
This is on my forum:
http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/sm...p?topic=5225.0

This is the one here:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=193657

If it was crap, I definitely wouldn't buy another one. I would also be the first to say the stunk if they did. Harwood is also a good hood.

Re: Unlimited Products Hood

I've heard good and bad from Unlimited.....I had one of their lightweight race hoods for a '67 Camaro.....fit fairly well, nice gelcoat.
My truck has a Harwood......
