Oil Pressue Gauge Question

I'm converting my 68 Stepside C-10 from an idiot light dash to a gauge package dash. I think I have everything good and ready to go with the exception of the temp and oil pressure gauges.

I think I have the temp gauge figured out as I just picked up a temp switch that I will wire in tonight. Any insight on this or am I on the right track?

On the oil gauge I have a question, I have the copper line to run from the engine block port to the gauge on the dash, what I need to know is do I need to fill this line with oil before I run the engine or will it self fill? I'm not real comfortable with running a line into the cab with oil in it, but if that is my only option I guess it will have to do. Are there any other options to hook up the oil pressure gauge?

Re: Oil Pressue Gauge Question

The gauge line will eventually need to get primed; it'll work with air in the line, it just won't be as accurate. Once you get the engine started loosen the nut on the a gauge a LITTLE to bleed the air. I normally put a paper towel around it to catch the drips. Then tighten it up as soon as you see a drop form.
